currently I have been using a Klipsch promedia 2.1 setup but they are a little small for my projector screen. I am thinking about going with the following for a 5.1 setup. The computer is the 6700k computer in my sig. I guess I will likely use the HDMI output on my GPU to output sound although I may use the digital out on my mobo. Not sure of the pros/cons. I only binge game a couple of times a year so gaming isnt the priority, movie watching is.

The room the projector is in is pretty big. I am guessing at least 750ft2. The screen is 100in.

I am strongly considering the following:
The receiver is a Denon S900W. I really like that it has 2 HDMI outputs so I can have my monitor hooked up to it as well as my projector. Also the price for this is pretty awesome (under $400). I don't care much that it is not HDCP 2.2 compliant because all of my media is on my computer anyway and It will be 5+ years before I upgrade to a 4k projector.

Front speakers: http://www.klipsch.com/kb-15-bookshelf-speakers-pair - I can get these for free so it would be hard to convince me to go another direction.

I would like to get floor standing speakers but having dropped $1600 just the other week.... I can get floor speaker later on down the road.

Tips? advice? pros/cons of going this route?

Didn't get any responses anywhere. Went ahead and bought it all anyway.

The Icon series seems to handle volume pretty well, but they're not great speakers IMO. The Klipsch Reference and Pro lines are very good, but these aren't. They have a (deserved) reputation for being harsh and can be fatiguing.

I'd suggest you get the KB-15s for free and use them with a sub to see if they work for you before you invest in the center and surrounds. The KW-100 is a decent sub, though you may want to consider the Bic F-12 or Dayton SUB-1500 as well. Or the HSU STF-2, which will be significantly better for ~$100 more.

I ended up going with this sub http://www.klipsch.com/sub-12-subwoofer/details

Klipsch reference and pro where a bit out of my budget. Within the next 5 years or so ill replace the rear surrounds with the KB-15s and get some reference tower speakers for the front and a reference center channel.

Klipsch horn tweeters are very bright, how are you loving your setup? Eventually I want to get a set of Polk Rti A9 and a Yamaha 3040

just wanted to update that the upgrade was awesome. I knew that it would make a difference going from the little satellite speakers of the Promedia to the larger bookshelf speakers but I didn't know it would make that much of a difference. When I watch a movie on the projector it really is like being in a movie theater now.

what I like about the AVR is the dual HDMI out. I have a 37in TV for when I just want to have something on while I'm doing household stuff and save the projector for movie nights
