Amazing thread. I can't stop chuckling at how ludicrous this is, but at the same time absolutely astounded that people are getting results.

Welp, another one saved from the trash bin. Bought a XFX 8800gtx from a fellow member here a few months ago. Worked flawlessly up until a few days ago. My son started complaining about random lockups/crashes and such after 20-30 miuntes of gaming. Did the "driver" thing...uninstall, reinstall...blah, blah blah. The card was a OC version, so down clocked it and tested it out as well. Still random locks. Didn't take notice that it was slightly artifacting until running thru some 3d06. Decided to give it the OVEN tweak. 375 for 7 1/2 minutes. 30 minute cooldown...put it back together and sweet...NO issues. Running at full OC speeds with no artifacting or lockups. +1 for the Oven.

Do you think this could work for an old GF4 4400 I have?

Just did this on an IBM Thinkpad T40 with the notorious ATI 7500 chip getting loose. Been meaning to do this with a heat gun, but I didn't want to spend $$$ on something like that. So I popped the board in the oven @ 385F for 9 minutes. Cooled for 30 minutes (cold to the touch). Ran about 80 minutes GPU burn in and right now I'm posting this from it.
I only supported the board in three spots with tin foil balls, it warped a bit but not enough to cause concern. Make sure you support your card/boards on 4 or more spots. Gona try this on a Nvidia FX5900 card that was giving trouble with artifacts and crashing in games. Woohooo!

Didn't work on the FX5900. Oh well. T40 still running since my prior post above.

didnt take any pics, just did the same thing and propped the board up on aluminum foil balls. 2 days later its still working great. i have a feeling a lot of dead electronics can be repaired this way for some reason.

I wonder if this oven trick would work on RAM sticks... Got a handful at home that I replaced for some folks some year ago.
Well, I suppose I would just waste my time at the worst case scenario, hehehe. Someone ever tried that?

Just tried it on a 2nd IBM T40 with the same ATI GPU issue. So far so good.
