1TB drive

Seagate if you're really cheap. Otherwise, I'd go for this Hitachi:
$137 - Hitachi Desktar 7K1000.D HDS721010DLE630 1TB SATA 6.0Gb/s Hard Drive

The WD isn't worth considering since it's significantly slower than the Seagate and Hitachi drives.

Doesn't Hitachi have a high failure rate? I still remember the deathstar drives.

As Jonowxeno said, not that bad. The Samsung drive that Jonowxeno posted is a little slower than the Hitachi but is faster than the Seagate and Western Digital. The take-away is this: Do not get the WD1001FALS as it's a very slow 1TB drive compared to other 1TB drives on the market.

If you're looking at pairing a SSD with a HDD, I'd personally get the quietest drive I could find. I don't really need much storage, so I got a USB3 external unit from Seagate with a 2TB 5900RPM drive. It's fairly quiet.

I ended up getting the seagate because it was cheap, after buying all of the other components I need to save some money somewhere.
