I don't think that I want to use my old hd in my new system so I am looking at getting at new 1tb drive. Should I go with the WD Black or the Seagate Barracuda?

Seagate if you're really cheap. Otherwise, I'd go for this Hitachi:
$137 - Hitachi Desktar 7K1000.D HDS721010DLE630 1TB SATA 6.0Gb/s Hard Drive
The WD isn't worth considering since it's significantly slower than the Seagate and Hitachi drives.

It's not as bad.

As Jonowxeno said, not that bad. The Samsung drive that Jonowxeno posted is a little slower than the Hitachi but is faster than the Seagate and Western Digital. The take-away is this: Do not get the WD1001FALS as it's a very slow 1TB drive compared to other 1TB drives on the market.
