VGA from Western Digital TV (WDTV)

im not sure if i can output to a vga device. this is a big deal to me, since all my monitors are vga and dvi. wdtv has hdmi and composite, so if either of those can convert easily to vga then im set. if not, got any suggestions for how i can make it work? i cant see them passing over such a widely-used format. thanks for you help.

Why not just get a HDMI to DVI adapter? They're only a few dollars each. Converting HDMI to VGA isn't cheap. It will cost you as much as the unit itself.

This is about as low as the price gets, unless ebay has something cheaper: http://www.crhub.com/p-325-hdmi-to-v...converter.html

The WDTV doesn't have component outputs? Cuz that's way closer to VGA than anything else.

Yeah you're pretty much stuck with an external DAC of some kind then. Gonna be expensive but should work quite well. Minus a decent analog output (component), that's your only real option.

Since the WDTV makes playing files that one normally gets via pc anyway why not just bypass the WDTV and get a long vga cable from pc to projector. I run one directly and use optical input into my receiver. Just a suggestion, it may or may not be viable for you.

yeah id rather not run a cable down the stairs and through like 4 rooms of my house. plus i want it to be mobile, if i want to take the projector to a friends house or watch on a building wall somewhere etc. i think ill just have to plan on making a projector with hdmi in, even though thats more expensive.
