Gateway 21" Monitor - how much is it worth?
need the collective expertise here at [H]. i'm going to sell my 21" 1680x1050 Gateway FPD2185W LCD monitor locally on craigslist. it's a good monitor that uses a Samsung S-PVA (LTM210M2) panel so the color reproduction is excellent. i paid $450 for this new in '06 which was back when 20"+ LCD monitors were still a little pricey.
now you can get a new 22" LCD at best buy for $200 and i doubt the average craigslist browser differentiates between TN and S-PVA panels. so i'm thinking i'll be able to get $125 at most for this monitor, probably less. opinions? FPD2185W Reveiw on ExtremeTech FPD2185W Review on Cnet

I think you can get around $200 for it if it's in good condition, marketing it as better-than-TN.
Perhaps you could try selling it at the FS forums here, there are always those who know the difference and is looking for something better-than-TN in a monitor. Doesn't hurt to advertise your monitor as S-PVA on craigslist, anyways. ![]()

My guess would probably be even less than that, probably in the $125-150 area, if you're lucky.

More than likely this. CL is essentially filled with people look for crap cheap. You won't get what it's really worth because the rationale will be "well walmart sells x 22" monitor for x amount".

yeah i've sold enough things on CL to understand that. i have the original box but not the styrofoam inserts so shipping would be costly since i'd have to pay for secure packaging on top of shipping fees for a heavy/large item. it just wouldn't be worth the hassle, otherwise i'd sell here on [H]. oh well, on CL it goes for cheap.
