Firefox Problem, bouncing pages.

I'm running Firefox on Vista Build 5456. No extensions running for Firefox.

When I go to just about any page when its loading its fine, as soon as the loading is done the page starts bouncing up and down. It won't stop, and its incredibly annoying. The side scroll bounces with the page too.

My tech friend has heard of this problem before but he couldn't find a fix. Any ideas please? I hate using IE7.

Do you mean default (as in it's set to Google when you open Firefox) or do you mean it's not there at all?

The search box is there, but there is no search engine specified. I tried putting in other search engines as well as google, but nothing will stay. I say okay to put "google.com" as my search engine, I click okay, and nothing happens.

Report this to Mozilla so that they can fix it in the next version.

I've got an idea.

Maybe Firefox doesn't support Vista.

The USER ADDED search engines are stored (in XP) at this location:

X:\Documents and Settings\<Username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<???>\searchplugins\...

What does that mean? Well, maybe Vista uses a different structure, and that location doesn't exist, or is different.

You can try:

1. Save the file at this location: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/install.php/0/google.src

Right click and save as 'google.src'

2. Save the image at this location http://mycroft.mozdev.org/install.php/0/google.gif

Right click and save as 'google.gif'

3. Now, go to X:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins or wherever it is for your computer. This is where the DEFAULT search engines are stored.

Copy in those two files.

4. Restart Firefox

5. Reply with results!

Yeah, I will, but I think it probably has to deal with me running Vista.

Which is why you need to report it, not many people run Vista.

Nope dude, no worky. When I went to the folder it showed all the search engines that I have tried. Both the gifs and src files are there, but it just won't work. Oh well, I'll live with it. Thanks for you help.
