I love everything about my Note 8 except the fingerprint scanner. Its not horrible for me, I have pretty big hands, but the home button fingerprint sensor on my Note 5 was so much more convenient. I dont know exactly what it is about this Note that makes it so much funner to use, but I am...
Once they have some kind of good promotion, either a great price on a gear s3 with the phone, or a buy one, get one half off phone sale, I will be buying a couple of them. If anyone else came out with a big screen, stylus, water resistant phone I would probably jump ship, but right now...
I love my 980 Ti hybrid. Its quiet, never goes over 58c no matter what the load. When I upgrade to a 1080 Ti it will almost certainly be another EVGA hybrid.
They are not the best, but they certainly are iconic. Lian Li has the ability to make cases that look super classy, or super trashy. As stated several times, they dont have many of the features that you find in Fractal Design, Corsair, NZXT, etc. But what they do have are some cases that look...
Not a big fan of touch wiz, I'm a little disappointed that this wasn't a bigger jump in performance, especially with the skip from 5 to 7, and I still wish they had the removable battery. HOWEVER, its the only phone with a decent stylus (which I really miss on my Nexus 6) and its waterproof...
I see you already have one, so I would say its not a BAD idea. The price is the key, if you can get a great deal on a new or used one, then give it a try. SLI is fun to play with and can give your system more life before full upgrade. The RAM limitations aren't going to go away in SLI though...
I know what you mean. Asus makes some pretty darn nice stuff but about the time I start thinking I might have to give them a try I see a new horror story about their customer support. And back to EVGA I go.
It really comes down to how good a card the 1070 is and how it scales in SLI, but I always buy the fastest single GPU I can afford. Then I sometime buy a second one later for SLI as a cheaper upgrade than buying the newest single GPU card out. This way I leap-frog a coupld generations of GPUs...
I am assuming that eventually there is going to be a Ti variant so there is no way I am going to go from a 980 Ti to a 1080 for this price point. Well, actually for almost any price point, its not fast enough for me to upgrade from my 980 Ti. If a Ti version comes out it should be enough of...
Not a chance. I'm running a 980 Ti hybrid and this is not a good step up for me. The 1080 Ti will be more interesting, but most likely I will be good for the next major GPU release. The 980 Ti is a good enough card that this 1080 doesn't look THAT much better.
The fact that there is no standard and it complicates updates are very valid. The potential lack of future compatibility of the modules is the biggest worry for me. I think this type of platform could be huge if properly implemented though. I doubt LG has enough clout to invent an industry...
The actual phone looks like it will be very decent but nothing mind blowing. The modules are what are interesting about it, how useful do you think they will be, and is anyone else interested in these? Right now they only show an upgraded audio module and a camera control module.
I think a...
I went from SLI 670s moderately overclocked to a 980 Ti at a similar resolution and I would go for nothing less than a 980 Ti. The 390(x) is not much more than a side grade except for eliminating any dual card issues, and the regular 980 isn't a good enough jump for the money you would have to...
I am very happy with my Hybrid. It was a toss up between the hybrid, the classified, and MSI Lightning and I am very glad I went with the hybrid. It makes almost no noise, overclocks decently (about 1425), and never hits more than 60c no matter how hard I push it . I would buy another one...
Not very well at all. 4k is very demanding. A single gtx 980 Ti (overclocked) will handle todays games ok at 4k, as long as you dont mind some drops below 60 and you will have to lower some of the settings. Meaning you can still get a great game play experience out a gtx 980 Ti on 4k but you...
I will tell you from past experience, once I have a faster card (like the gtx 980 Ti) I was never really happy with a slower one, no matter how much of a better value it was. I think your decision of keeping the 980 Ti is a good one.
I came from a 23 inch 1080p monitor to a 34 inch 2560x1080. LOVED the change even though the pixel density was a bit low. Now I am using the 34" 3440x1440 34UM95c and I love it even more. I don't understand where the "momentously stupid development" opinion comes from. I often run two...
Flightradar24 is an incredible to check out. When you see a plane flying overhead and you wonder where it came from and where its going, (plus what type of plane, what its flight path is, what the pilot sees from his cockpit via google maps terrain) this app will show you all of that. It's not...
Generally I redo my thermal compound yearly. However this last build I have been lazy and haven't changed the paste on the video cards at all, and the CPU only once since building the whole thing. :(
I love my data vac. Long story short, probably saved me 40 cans of compressed air between home and work. Thats a lot of savings over the last couple years. If it died tomorrow I would have no reservations about buying another one, even at full price.
Note 10.1 (first edition) here and its plenty good for my needs so far. If I do upgrade it would be to a windows platform tablet like the surface though. I actually don't have a chance to use it much because my wife apprehended it and its the main form of electronics she uses now.
Couple things, even with the side off your case, unless you have something like a desk fan blowing in its not going to be as cool as an open bench with two video cards in there. Even if they aren't being taxed too hard they will still generate a significant amount of ambient heat. With 6...
Thats true, but this is a decent overclock. Seems like most people are not hitting 1500, with very few hitting 1550 or more. I can't complain about 1461, and I doubt I would notice much difference hitting 1500+.
I have to agree with Grunt, I am really liking my 980 Ti Hybrid. It only has an ASIC of 67 but it will overclock to 1461 at 110% (while still running cool) Only hits about 50 C while gaming, but got it up to 56 running Kombustor. Those are very good temps for stress testing and it wan't noisy...
Plenty big enough, plenty new enough, and high enough quality to continue using. Even with overclocking, etc this would be plenty. Even if you add a second gtx 970 and overclock this it would be fine. Capacitor aging is real, but it takes a long, long time and this has plenty of overhead.
MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti GTX 980Ti Factory overclocked, $599 without the 30 buck rebate, pretty hot deal IMO. Already have one of the EVGA hybrids on the way or I would have jumped on this deal.
Thats kind of what I was thinking before I decided on the EVGA hybrid. I didn't know about the Black Ops III deal either, might have gone that route instead.
I just pulled the trigger on the EVGA hybrid. Lowest price I have seen on this card ($689), still has the bullets or blades bundle, and I got an extra 25 bucks off from Amex. The classified is about the same price, so it was pretty hard to decide between the two. If I planned on upgrading...
Not much information out there on the difference between the Lightning and the Lightning LE edition. Clock speeds are of course lower on the LE version, but is everything else identical? Memory brand, caps, chokes, etc? I noticed the LE version has the same 8+8+6 power connections as the...
Nothing on their Blog or Newsroom.... maybe they forgot. Or, maybe its so secret that they still haven't figured out what it is. I'm betting everything on a 3 gpu card using old GK104 chips they dug out of a closet, the 690 Magnum Special Edition. Comes with 6 gigs of ram, same as the 980 Ti!
I am really liking it for the most part. Been playing Rocket League for the first time with it to get used to the controller more than anything else, and now I'm getting addicted to the game. I haven't had a lot of experience with the the last few generations of controllers, so I'm not...
So far I am having some problems with it on my Steam games. I game at 2560x1080 and maybe its just me, but it's not doing well on most of my games. There seems to be some kind of issue because games are locking up, I can't seem to config the controller in most games, and the controller doesn't...
