Try a different syntax on your username maybe it doesn't like that format. And you can leave the password off the command and it will prompt for it if you want.
On a different note Log Insight is pretty awesome so far...fills a nice gap.
Hell ya! You don't work a lot of maintenance do you? =) Personally I don't like watching a couple thousand desktops/servers vMotion any longer than i have to in order to patch hosts.
I haven't actually used any UCS stuff but I think it's somewhat similar to HPs virtual connect so what I...
We began evaluating Hyper-V 2012 recently and we are a vmware shop. While there are some nice features i would like in vmware like virtual HBAs managing hyper-v just seems a little too disjointed and not straight forward. Like I hate that you can only do some things in the hyper-v manager vs VMM.
The draft STIG is for 5.0 instead of 5.1 and is pretty useless since it's just a copy of the hardening guide with a few tweaks that make no sense. I would check out the hardening guide but use some common sense as some of the recommendations will cripple your environment.
You need to run "esxcli software vib update" instead of "esxcli software vib install". Install removes all the HP OEM drivers like for the local raid controller in this case and doesn't replace them with anything.
I've got several Lefthand VSA setups at smaller sites and they work great. There are some gotchas that aren't really documented everywhere that can cause problems but properly setup I've had no issues.
Well I take that back, the update/upgrade process is idiotic especially if you don't have...
This link seems to hold the key to the automagic. It appears the act of joining the servers in linked mode creates the connections with the different SSOs.

So say I have 2 sites and want to use multisite mode so that each site can remain functional if one goes down and want to use them in linked mode.
How does the "logical" SSO get into the picture? Is that something that gets created automagically?
Our main regional vcenters are linked but the VDI ones are not since citrix doesn't support it.
And i was trying to figure out what this statement means if anything at all since it seems to go in a circle.
I've thought the same of the web client in the lab, it's just a little too slow for me right now. Also did you setup SSO in a multisite configuration at all? I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this with different vcenters in each region with a few regions having 2 vcenters with the...
No not right away but we are still on 4.1 and were scheduling to do 5 here soon so I was looking at 5.1 but SRM is always the hold up for us whether it's the SRA or recoverpoint needing to be a certain version.
Wow so nevermind, the way it was worded sounded like it wanted me to provide the current SA password but entering whatever worked. Although it enabled the SA account in sql which seems pretty bad security wise...
Anyone run into issues with install SSO? I just use sql express in the lab and it wants the SA password but the SA account is disabled by default and it won't let you specify a different username.
Or did you create a new DB manually and then run that sql script and point to that?
Got my BS at WGU and will be doing my masters there soon. WGU can't be beat on price and the pace at which you can get it done. It's more accredited than any other school you will go to most likely since it is accredited in 3? regions and nationally. Also most large companies already have...
Seriously people, this isn't your cheap ass soho hard drives. Enterprise storage costs lots of $$$$. Then take into account backing it up, probably replication, and maybe even a new array and you are looking at a big chunk of cash.
To get a job you need experience, to get paid you need a degree unless you are very very lucky, and some places require and/or desire certs like Security+ at a minimum.
If you aren't patching your ESXi hosts every couple months then your environment isn't secure. There have been 4 security patches at least so far this year...just saying. It's not every month but lately it has been.
All of that requires downtime though which isn't acceptable to some customers if it can be avoided by having a cluster. Anyway just making sure I wasn't missing something.
We have multiple SQL clusters in our environment and yes it is a pain in the ass for maintenance but how are you providing OS/App level redundancy with only HA? What if the OS crashes?
Longhorn was the code name for Vista so Vista wasn't a codename...and this codename won't be the final name of the new xbox. It's just a codename who fing cares what it is.
Shoot GE or not, 5 min + 2 min to get a desktop on XP in a corporate environment with lots of GPOs, AV, Firewall, logon scripts...sounds in the realm of normalcy. But ok blame it on GE...just saying, we've had to do performance testing on our baseline software and boot and logon time...
