no problem. I've been in your shoes looking for a firmware that the company locks down. SOOOOO ANNOYING! good luck. these Equallogic .zip is from someone else. so I just gave it to you!
the set of files I have has up to 10.0.2 (every thing is a few years old at this point, but it helped me out) I want to find a way to get the link to you privately.
I have a bunch of Equallogic firmware's that I can share with you. They aren't too new. Maybe a couple years old. But still. I don't give a crap, equalogic is EOL, they should be releasing this stuff for free now. Let me know.
geez.....damn it. I forgot. I think they showed up as SSD. It did work beautifully for 1+ years! I had forgotten the plug in the network cables for the 2nd controller. I think when the unit was tying to use the 2nd controller it freaked out. I really don't know what happened.
So, it turns out I had zero network cables plugged into the second controller during my whole "drive fail drama". I'm not sure if that led to the array freaking out. In any case I have put 16 eql brand drives in the enclosure. BUT it took about 7 days to initialize the raid6 array (15k...
I operated on the 850 Pros for 1 year with zero issues.
more details: I was testing this morning if the "drive disabled" messages was real so I pulled a random drive and the "disabled" spare started to rebuild. So, the drive disabled message is not real. So, I replaced the drive I had...
Yes, is that crazy? I'll test it for days, and power it off and on many times to make sure the EQL brand drives don't do the same thing.
for no good reason, I really think the enclosure is ok, right?!?!?! I was using drives that are NOT designed for enterprise use.
thoughts? now you've got...
update on my 16 drive Samsung 850 PRO 512gb PS6000 array:
it's dead. 12 of the 16 drives died on a power loss and restore. I had moved ALL corporate data off the array a few days earlier as 1 of the drives failed and I got spooked when I put a replacement drive in and I saw the message...
I have a new theory. In an array full of unauthorized drives; if a drive fails can you replace it with an unauthorized drive? I should test this by pulling one of my unauthorized drives.
ok guys, I want to make everyone aware of my current project.
I purchased a PS6000 chassis with no drives from ebay. loaded in 16 512gb Samsung EVO 850 Pro drives.
before I loaded the drives I got the controller firmware to 6.0.7 to match my other EQL boxes. after loading the drives I...
