Id Cooling SE-224-XT is one of about 20 coolers with 4x 6mm finpack with 120mm fan/s. All cool similar with price ranging from around $20 to about $35. All cool about half as well as Thermalright Phantom Spirit series with pricing starting around $31. ;)

What fan did you "upgrade" to? NH-U12A comes with NF-A12x25, one of the best 120mm fans on the market.

AMD 5900X is quite a hot cpu. In my opinion too hot for NH-U12A. There are many coolers way better than NH-U12A on the current market. Specifically Thermalright's new twin towers costing half as much often a third and some can be had for a forth the cost of U12A.

Not sure if it's processor or AMD IHS mating better to cooler base than Intel IHS mate to cooler base. And without a print of each we have nothing showing what cause of temp difference is.

With som many other reviewer tests showing PA120 being slightly better than NH-D15 or both being near equal or PA120, I have to wonder why this review shows D15 so much better.

Pads are okay but not near as good as thermal past .. and don't re-use them. They compress when cooler is mounted. If reused this original compression can cause less heat tramsfer from CPU to cooler.

NH-D14 is a good cooler. It was released 13 Dec 2009 so has been around for long time, but with free mount updates and new fans as originals are likely wearing / worn out and it's still one of the best coolers out there. What are our front intake fans? Some 120mm are good, some are junk. ;)...
