I finished it last night, best game so far, been playing it since the 3 day head start. Have not played dragonflight since then so I guess I need to shift back into mundane world mode.
This games real time combat needs to be lauded even more. If games like dragon age are going to continue to veer away from more top down tactical styles with pausing, we need more engaging and dynamic combat like this. The combat was the one thing from trailers that looked the most repetitive...
I did not start playing until around 9pm today due to work getting in the way of game time, but in terms of what its like to play?
An absolute joy. Love everything about it, the combat on videos looked repetitive but it does not feel that way in game at all. I get what you are saying about...
I support the merger, I want more games and exclusives on microsoft because then there is a bigger chance more titles will appear on pc at the same time as xbox. Spiderman on pc would not take as long if it was cross platform on consoles or a microsoft exclusive, but since it's sony and the...
I just bought a 4080 at msrp on antonline. You can get them for under 1300 dollars now. Granted mine was a pny which based on some internet chatter will spit in your face if you have a warranty issue, but it was msrp.
I suspect nvidia ramped up production of 4080s based on amds inability to...
Does anyone know if AMD actually allocated more production to 7900 xtx or if there are so many of those chips with issues they had to sell them as 7900 XTs?
I ask because what is the point sending so many more 7900 XTs when the cost is almost the same for less performance?
The 4090 sells more...
my only complaint about some of the raytracing I've seen is this sort of... radiation particle look around the edges. You see it in those render programs where the software seems to run passes and more calculations to fill in more and more detail until it smoothes out. It just gives the...
If they do have a refresh with a larger die version in the 7950 xtx, they need to focus on whatever accelerates ray tracing. That's my biggest worry/disappointment with the latest amd gpu cards so far, the gap this generation seems to have widened when amd needed to narrow it.
When the...
I'll likely be getting the 7900 xtx either way, but I'm on a 4k oled cx10 for my pc display and after this I'm never going back to non emissive displays. But I am going to continue to need more performance to drive this screen. It looks like the 4090 would be a better card for my display but...
I'm out of the loop. How bad is the raytracing on rdna 3? Can it at least match a 3090? And what about some of the more active raytracing games like control or 2077?
I'm waiting until I can secure a 3080/3080 ti before I play this game. Sucks it likely won't be until after new year. By that time maybe amd will have their version of raytracing implemented in the game with some version of dlss, if not I'll keep trying for a 3080
They still have dragon age to complete first, then they can disperse. I better not have them go under before we get to tevinter though, I've been waiting too long.
He mentioned his test was with 2x8gb sticks or ram, were those single rank or dual rank 8 gig sticks? If they were single rank, he would likely get a boost with 4 of those installed, or 2x8gb dual rank chips based on previous reports.
Just to clarify, I've heard about single vs dual channel memory for years. Its the single vs dual rank memory that is new to me.
https://www.hardwaretimes.com/single-rank-vs-dual-rank-ram-vs-dual-channel-memory/
I could fill oceans with basic stuff I don't know.
In all this time, I never realized there were different "ranks" of memory (i.e. single vs dual...). Maybe it was never or rarely focused on before because it did not matter much for games.
Some people above were suggesting that dual rank tends to yield better performance, but then Steve said...
The relative lack of mindshare AMD has in the graphics card arena with the rank and file gamer is the best ally we have in being able to get a card post launch.
This is such an obvious response, it's a wonder they don't do it. It slows down the mass buying considerably and makes sure more individuals get cards directly.
Has anyone tested games with different speed memory? Both higher frequency and some with lower timings?
I read somewhere the new sweetspot for memory for ryzen 5000 was ddr4 4000. Also, would the higher speed memory, or lower timing memory make a bigger impact in SAM mode when coupled with...
I've seen everything you listed aside from maniac. I tried Dark but it just seems to slow to me. Maybe it picks up, but I was 5 episodes in and still did not have any decent hooks.
Another Life was god awful, one episode and I was done. Away was another slog, and too focused on the mundane...
I generally agree with this, but I think I may be a sucker for subscribing and not being one of the people that "churns" in and out based on what is available. It sends a signal that it does not matter whether in a given month I have anything I find interesting to watch or not, since I'll stick...
I'll never understand the ultra wide stans. They get so excited by a wide display, seeming not to care that it's a display with the vertical space cut off giving less view.
reminds me of an old Steven Seagal skit from mad tv
Yeah, I partly blame the glacial adoption rate of this feature in gpus. They have to find a way to implement new connectors at a faster pace, I get they need lead time to secure the proper chips and decoders, but there has to be a way to strap on some generalized hardware that can get the job...
This is the biggest hurdle AMD has to climb imo, nvidia is on their second generation cards that support raytracing, and they've used much of the time to train their deep learning tech on a wider variety of games.
This is why it's so important that the new xbox is supposed to support raytracing...
Just to be clear, I don't have a 2080 ti, still using an standard 1080. I'm considering buying a 3080/3090 and flipping the card if prices spike due to low volumes of initial production and lower samsung yields.
I don't even remember if there was a spike, but since I hear talk that ampere will have major supply constraints they might be even more lucrative to flip.
I'm going to wait for amd to release their cards before I make a decision for my personal rig, but I am considering buying the 3090 asap for the purpose of flipping it for higher price when they dry up.
Am I malevolent for trying to get a new gpu for free?
Except performance per watt will increase so it won't consume anywhere near 450 watts. They won't need to cut back on performance because of that.
As for transistor count, we'll have to see what AMD's count is when the final tally comes. I was still under the impression that tsmc's process...
