Bit the bullet and bought the v600f on Newegg a few days ago. I was pretty discouraged by the really bad reviews of the case. Then a few good ones came along with easy fixes to the case's shortcomings (i.e. remove top fan dust filter for more space between the fan and mobo)
The case reminds...
There isn't too much info on this CPU heatsink, so here is my mini review.
Introduction:
The Cooljag Falcon II is a low-profile CPU heatsink that boasts a clearance of 70mm, plus a fraction of a millimeter extra. I can attest that this fraction of a millimeter exists because I own a...
Hi everyone,
I've been building PCs and posting on [H] for a while now. I really like researching my own PC components, but this time I want to build a super-stable gaming pc, and that's where single-component reviews and newegg just don't cut it. I need to know which components work well...
Here's the story. I have an HIS Radeon 5870 for sale that has a replaced capacitor. I accidentally knocked off one of the 16V capacitors trying to force the card into a PCI-E slot. I failed to realize that the capacitor did not clear a SATA cable (from hell) that plugs into the motherboard right...
I have 55 posts, 5 more than needed to post in the FS/FT section, yet the forum will not let me post. Please, moderators or administrators, help me out here!
Btw, the 5870 runs even cooler than my 4890. After 1 hr of the Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta, the HD5870 peaked at 44C. I'm only running a 240 Swiftech rad with an OCed Phenom x3 and 5870 in the same loop. My fans spin at 950 rpm, inaudible against my monitor's capacitor whine. This level of...
Yeah, I used some Arctic Silver Ceramique - it's non-conductive just in case the VRMs are exposed to it - at the end of the heatpipe and let it coat the whole thing as I pushed it into the block. I also put the thermal paste on the VRMs. They're small, so I just scraped a really small amount...
I was a bit worried about the compatibility of my MCW60-4870 GPU cooler because someone over at overclockers.net posted that the MCW60 itself works, but not the heatpipe attachment that cools the VRMs (http://www.overclock.net/water-cooling/586298-hd-5870-mcw60-4870-a.html). Fortunately, that's...
Steam has really picked up over the last 2 years. If it is the first time installing it on your machine, you will have no problems with Dirt 2. Game updates and patches are a breeze with Steam and the Steam community is great for teaming up in multiplayer games. The Steam overlay works in just...
alright, I'll organize the data by similar system specs and post it back up at the top under the introduction.
Keep posting people. The more we have, the more accurate this will be.
Also remember to post your resolutions (obviously a huge difference).
And fyi, DX11 isn't in the beta.

I'm surprised at how few good threads there are for this subject on the internet right now, so I'll start one on [H].
Please post your system specs, in-game graphics settings, game resolution, DirectX version (9, 10, or 11) and at least avg. frames per second (fps). With enough responses, I...
This game is for team-oriented players - notice all the squad features, like how easy it is to join one, how you can spawn on any squad member, how you get more points for assisting squad members compared to other allies. Get some friends on together with xfire or steam chat and play it. The...
I totally agree PrincessFrosty, this is pretty self-evident because GPUs get more and more powerful.
Let me add that I tested the HD4870 to HD5870 FPS gain ratio using benchmarks from Farcry 2 at 1920x1080 (8X AA/0X AF) on Tomshardware.com and the 1.66x ratio is dead-on.
So last week I posted the "Best Video Card EVER" thread and got a TON of responses, thanks guys! A lot of you said you went from GPUs I've never heard of (meaning pre-2004 cards) to things like 8800GTXs, 4850s, and even a 5870?!?!? That must have been night and day!
Navigating through all the...
The Radeon 5000 series has been out for months now and has shown us some pretty amazing performance, giving the "fastest (single & dual) GPU" crown back to ATI. Now we've got a buzz around the internet about Nvidia's Fermi 100 GPUs being up to 30% faster than the 5870. With all the speculation...
Thanks! The case didn't come with 80mm exhaust fans and I didn't bother because that would add more noise. the positive pressure in this case must be pretty high because I have all three 120mm fans sucking air in - I can feel air moving out the back of the case.
Likewise, I love my Enzotech...
As usual, poor room lighting and camera flashes just don't do justice to black, brushed aluminum. Just like all other Silverstone Cases (besides a few of the Sugos) this is a very well made case.
Important:
This build cost me an arm, leg, and a Sapphire 4870 because I originally used an...
It took me the whole weekend to finish my new water-cooled build, but I am happy with the results.
Specs:
Silverstone Grandia GD04 HTPC case
AMD Athlon II X2 250 @ 3.62 GHz
XFX Radeon 4890 @ 900 MHz/1100 MHz
XFX Geforce 8200 Motherboard

The 4870 and 4890 are very quiet when you adjust the fan speed to <25% in the ATI Catalyst program. It will only rev up when you are gaming and, even then, it will only be for a few seconds every 30 min - 1 hr or so.
If you really want a good, quiet solution, some of the 4850s have over-sized...
Sprout2287 - Great idea on the installation! I'll just get long screws and maybe some washers to go through the case/fan/radiator. Thanks for the advice.
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to stick to what I know on this build and go for the MCP350. I needed a pump with a small footprint to fit inside my HTPC case (Grandia GD04).
Now I have the following parts:
Swiftech MCP350 pump
Swiftech MCR220 QP radiator
Enzotech Sapphire CPU block...
Hey everyone,
I am going to set up a water-cooled HTPC and I want to buy a very, very quiet pump. I used to have a CPU loop with an MCP-350 and it was pretty quiet, but I'm not sure if it is powerful enough for the loop I am planning:
Black Ice GTS 240 XFLOW
Enzotech Sapphire CPU block...
