Replaced my 4870 with an HIS IceQ X Turbo (factory overclocked to 1000MHz core frequency). The new card is actually a little shorter than the 9.6" 4870 was, so it fit my Antec SLK 3700-BQE midtower. It's quite silent and Skyrim temps run around 45C (ambient 28C). Unigine Heaven temps is 66C at...
Sorry to hear that. :( Mine was officially open-box too as it was the one on display in the store. Only problem was a couple of easily wiped-off fingerprints on the screen..
I've installed the driver. Doesn't seem to make any difference.
Came across this thread yesterday. There's some good info in there from a photography site perspective. Deals with the modes in particular.

Have you guys installed the Windows 7 driver that comes on the CD with the user manual? I'm wary of installing it as the monitor currently works great without it and I tend to be in the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' clan.
Learning something everyday. Looks like what I thought was a small amount of backlight bleed in the lower corners of my PA246Q is probably that IPS corner glow as its intensity varies if I move my head around while still looking at it. :)
senna89,
Here's a pic of your page and a video uploaded to Youtube also. Hope these help. This is in Standard Mode, brightness 30, contrast 80.

I decided to keep the PA246Q. Plugged in my P-MVA one last time to compare and it seems it too has a similar 'ghosting' issue that I hadn't noticed the last 5 years. Methinks maybe I noticed it on the IPS mainly because I was sensitized by being warned about it on this type of panel in advance...
They don't bother me. I'm posting the image for senna89 since he/she expressed concern over text clarity. Here's another pic. My camera had a bit of a problem focusing and the moire pattern was its fault.
Here's a pic for you to judge. I recommend you go to a brick & mortar store and see this monitor in action to make sure it is to your liking as far as text is concerned.

I have no microscope but I just used my FZ-35 bridge camera to take a pic. The coating doesn't seem to make text less sharp on my PA246Q as far as my old naked eye is concerned. Image reduced from 4000x3000.

The coating on the PA246Q doesn't affect reading text. I only see it occasionally and part of me reacts like it's just a bit of dust on the screen. Same for my FP241 MVA. I only looked at a couple of TN monitors in the store and the murky colours turned me off immediately so I don't remember...
OK. I'm already used to the AG coating. Can only see it occasionally on some tints like beige. Photos and movies look spectacular. Only downside so far is when I play Oblivion. I play in first person and when I move rapidly to look around, the periphery becomes a blur. If I scan near a steeple...
My excellent BenQ 24" 1920x1200 FP241W P-MVA monitor is ~4.5 years old and the backlight is starting to flicker a tiny bit occasionally, plus there's a very slight burn-in in one corner. Friend of mine offered me $100 for it so I decided to get a new 1920x1200 24" monitor before this one goes...
Thanks a lot for the replies, folks. *thumbs up* :)
I've reread the long thread about this monitor and response doesn't seem to be a problem. I'm a bit wary of the IPS glow and coating graininess but there's a brick & mortar store a couple of blocks away that has it in stock so I'll try to...
The back light of my BenQ FP241W P-MVA I love so much is starting to act up and I have someone willing to buy the monitor from me. Looking for a replacement for a reasonable price, I am thinking about the Asus PA246Q. I don't know the lag time of my BenQ but I have never experienced ghosting...

I don't remember having a problem either. Upgraded only once a card was no longer fast enough to play the game I...
My BenQ FP241W 24" LCD monitor suddenly started flickering this morning. The brightness varies slightly now but it's noticeable. I can't be sure if there is no lateral movement (might be imagining this). That monitor is a replacement unit I got on February 28th 2007 in lieu of one I had bought...
