I think both designs look really good aesthetically and it comes down to how similar YOU want C4 look to A4. Very similar establishes a brand image; something people associate with Dan cases the moment they see it. But then it restricts you to that very image as you go. Tough call. I think...
Out of respect actually... I wasn't going to buy it, so I didn't want to sk(r)ew the survey ;)
Let me know if I shouldn't post what I think, and I'll go away...
The only mini ITX board with 4 DIMMs is the Asrock X299 ITX, which would also work in that case, using the same Cryorig C1 cooler. The board is expensive, also the CPUs that go with it, also SODIMMs that it needs... So, do the math ;)
Take a look at my build here, it might give you some ideas: https://smallformfactor.net/forum/threads/i-think-i-found-a-little-gem-realan-e-i7.6175/
tldr: it's a Ryzen 1800X based system, coupled with a low profile 1050Ti and a 400W DC-DC PSU solution with external bricks. Extremely portable at...
^ You should have turned your heatsink 90 degrees, fins in vertical orientation, so air can more easily flow upwards. It's also better for heatpipe performance. Which heatsink is that anyway?
Three and a half years ago, I had posted a case idea.... It's good to see that it's pretty much coming to life with C4-SFX ;)

No, I don't mean to imply that Dan took my idea or anything (he probably wasn't even aware)...
Hey dan, I just thought of a heatsink design, not sure if you considered... It would give better DIMM clearance (with standard height of 31.25mm) using the 120x15mm fan.
I haven't drawn anything but I'll try to put in words...
Think about an NH-L9i with 6 heatpipes... bend those heatpipe...
You are probably right about the surface area but the case layout I put up there has three 92mm fans (including the PSU) directly exhausting air, not two.
The worst case, the case depth can be increased by 10mm to accommodate slim 120mm fans in the front. This would bring the case dimensions to...
Fair enough, except that there would be absolutely no need for any cables to provide. The user would use their own cables, pass through from the back and install. 92mm fans would not interfere with modern cables such as DP or HDMI.
DVI cables would be a no-go though...
Only an internal HDMI...
Hey dondan,
I like the new design language but I think the new case is too similar to the M1, not significantly smaller in footprint (which matters most) and has less to offer. So, I'm afraid it would have a hard time at Kickstarter.
I think you should consider a bolder approach and...
