Project Open Core: Liquid P5, Hardline Tubing, Illuminated System Panel, VR Ready

First worklog I've ever posted on but damn your log has really compelled me to post. Meticulous worklog, probably better than 99% I see. You readily admit mistakes and documented to a crazy degree. Design is incredible. I've always hated LEDs for the most part but this rig has my mind changed...

    Quartz's quiet PC...now with pics

Cool build. I would suggest putting a few 500-700rpm 120mm fans down there, the scythe slipstreams can be had for only $5ish each (in the 500,800rpm range or fan control the 1200rpm), you won't hear it over your video card, trust me. But if you're happy with passive that's awesome too, i just...

    Scythe USA Closes Its Doors

What a great loss to silence in computing. Scythe has always pushed the edge in how far and how low heatsinks could go. Quite a shame, I'm going to have to buy a couple of their fan controllers and fans to stock up now! The 1200rpm slipstream model was one of my favorites for silencing because...

ARECA Owner's Thread (SAS/SATA RAID Cards)

Anyone know where to get the 1880ix 24 port card? Newegg is out of all models. Also newegg lists the 1880ix 24 with 1GB memory as deactivated is that true? http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816151073

EVGA GTX580 cooler noise vs other options

Get an accelero xtreme plus.. Galaxy 580 and Sparkle 580 come with them preinstalled. The Galaxy 580 has a fan profile of 15%-85% and the sparkle 40-85%. I have the Sparkle and 40% is moderately quiet to my ears but i bios modded it down to 7% @ idle (only one of the three fans spins up)...

GTX 580 - MSI Lightning, Asus Direct CU II or EVGA SC?

Actually the galaxy 580 or sparkle 580 with arctic extreme plus should run cooler and quieter than the direct CU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814162073&Tpk=galaxy%20580

OCZ: The Master of SSD (Shady, Suspect, Deceitful)

Well this alot of this is actually news to me I guess I haven't been following hardware closely enough the last couple years. I just bought a Vertex 3 240gb, it's my first OCZ purchase I hope it doesn't turn out to be a bad choice. Then again how many said they wouldn't buy intel because of...

    Hitachi 2TB Harddrive Owner's Thread

Just received 3 5K3000 drives (for backup) all came with FW 580 and blue pcb. They also came in original hard drive manufacturer wrapping like ++++ always does :). All 3 work just fine and scan fin so far. Next month I'll be ordering 20 more for my array .

ARECA Owner's Thread (SAS/SATA RAID Cards)

Hm okay it's just i've seen many people post that such arrays take 'several days' to build if they're a certain size.

ARECA Owner's Thread (SAS/SATA RAID Cards)

I have settled on an areca 1880ix 24 port. I plan to get 20 2TB hard drives particularly the hitachi 5k3000. I was thinking of 2 Raid 6s for 16tb each (fine with 4 drives for parity) but was wondering what everyone's thoughts are? Would such an array take like a week to build? Better to have 3...

2TB WD Caviar Black, 9,71% failure rate?

Seems weird Maxtor is at the lowest failure rate in 1TB as I've heard nothing but bad things about their drives and avoided them for years. I've never had a DOA drive myself (cross fingers), and I have 4 1TB blacks, 3 2TB greens, 4 1.5tb greens, 2 750gb blacks.. 4 500gb seagates and a few...

ARECA Owner's Thread (SAS/SATA RAID Cards)

I can't decide between an old 1280ML on ebay for 700 or pony up the 1300 for the 1880ix (24 port versions). Is the 1880 that big an upgrade? Will I have problems with either in 2003 server standard x32? I don't really need a ton of speed just something for 24 drives worth. Do I still have to...

Use RJ45 port on motherboard and pci?

Bumping my own thread i know i know but I found this card, would this be a good choice? Supposedly compatible with PCI. I didn't think pci had enough bandwidth for dual gigabit? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833106055
