No, they replaced the 5870s. I have a Gigabyte Super Overclock 580 GTX at the moment. Everything is stable and fine so I have no interest making any further changes, and I'd have a harder time selling the 580 over the two 6950s since it's now used.

Right, something's gotta be loose if the tapping can temporarily relieve the problem somewhat. All components are in place more than securely, but it's the components themselves that might not be completely together. I'd believe one video card being the problem, but both? It just doesn't make...
I received the machine back, being told that the problem was due to one malfunctioned video card. When I took it home, the problems started right back up again.
I realized that when screen flickering or gray screen/stripes occurred, I could lightly shake or even just tap the side of the case...
There needs to be a case with a shock absorbent in it.
Still waiting on my repair, I'll post when I receive the news.

Well, I sent the rig into Canada Computers. They seem pretty good, so once I get their diagnosis, I'll post it here for reference in case anyone shares similar symptoms. One thing is for sure though, a piece of hardware is going to be replaced.
