Laptop battery only charging to 60%?

It is likely a "battery saver" profile in the power options / Toshiba's power management applet which prevents the battery to be charged beyond a certain point to help prolong battery life. Many people simply plugs in their laptop to the A/C outlet and use it. Studies have shown that batteries...

    Toshiba P50T - 15.6-inch 4K Display

Ohh, as for a 4k screen.... I don't care, I just want my next laptop to have a 1920x1080 screen (although I would prefer 1920x1200).

    Toshiba P50T - 15.6-inch 4K Display

I dunno if I would consider the Lenovo IdeaPad Y50. I like having a DVD burner because I use it and I don't wanna bother with an external drive. Also, Win 7 somehow got corrupted on my Lenovo Y470 about 2 weeks ago. I could not get past the BIOS screen which meant I could not access the...

    Widows 8 vs Windows 8 64 bit

Like it was stated above, "64-bit" is most likely implied because a 32-bit OS will only allow to use 3.2GB - 3.4GB. Thus all the "excess" RAM would be unusable and they will need to deal with a lot of returns and lost revenues. They will not be in business for long.

    Looking for 15.6" laptop w/ A10-5750m + 1080p screen...

A friend of mine is trying to find a laptop with an A10-5750m or A10-5757m APU in a 15.6" laptop and a 1920x1080 resolution screen. He asked me to help him look for one, but I am not having an easy time looking for one... He is not interested in a discrete graphics card at all, I tried to...

Do you prefer Windows 7 or Windows 8?

I was quickly playing around with Win 8 (1st time) on a laptop last week. I was looking around for the Control Panel for maybe around 2 or 3 minutes. I gave up and decided to do a search on "Control Panel". I wouldn't mind using it for a tablet I suppose since I am interested in a Win Tablet...

    What are you CURRENTLY using?

Currently using a HTC EVO from Virgin Mobile. It is okay. I simply use it for texting, listening to music... and oh yeah, making phone calls from time to time. However, not too pleased with Android OS since it auto launches programs / apps in the background on it's own. For example I am...

AMD tech Day 2014 Kaveri slides

Just for the record, I would simply ignore Battlefield 3, BioShock Infinite (the two left most benchmarks), and Tomb Raider (the very last benchmark on the right). Those games are not CPU limited at all. I am positive they are BF3 is only single player. So basically, those games are simply fluff...

Finally. 8" Windows tablet with full HD.

^^^ My concern is not the ability of Bay Trail or Cherry Trail to play full HD content. My concern is solely focused on the amount of available RAM.

Finally. 8" Windows tablet with full HD.

Very interest... I'll wait for Cherry Trail-T which supposedly supports up to 8GB of RAM. If not, then I may just wait for Willow Trail.

Dell XPS 12 or Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

I played around with a Yoga 2 at BestBuy. I found it was a bit difficult to use 3200x1800 resolution screen. It did not scale properly on the desktop so that icon and text you appear larger to make it easier to see. It was literally a 3200x1800 desktop on a 13.3" screen making everything hard to...

Future APU's and the end of FX

Back in mid 2012 AMD publicly stated they will support socket AM3+ into 2015. Therefore, the current line up of FX CPUs will be manufactured until sometime in 2015 before they decide to retire AM3+. I highly doubt there will be a socket AM4 because FX CPUs only serve the desktop space. Due to...

    Another "recommend a tablet" thread

If I had to buy a new tablet now (assuming my 2012 Nexus 7 died) i would likely get the Dell Venue 8 Pro, or maybe the Lenovo Miix 8 Windows 8.1 tablet. While I like my Nexus 7 I only use for reading, the occasional movie, and a couple of games from time to time. Not too much in the way of...

So will Broadwell be drop-in upgrade on Haswell boards or not?

Haswell should last for several years. Still using a Q9450.

    Mouse weights - gimmicks?

I got a logitech g500 which has weights. I didn't buy it specifically for that reason, but I tried out several different weight configurations to so that the mouse doesn't feel too light or heavy. Adjustable weights is a nice option to have, but not absolutely necessary.
