Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

Warlock is time limited. Titan is suppose to be in the store permanently.

Modules comes later but CCU's should be available so you should be able to effectively "upgrade to a warlock" from a Base Avenger but you can't downgrade to a Titan (at least not yet)

If you want the base Avenger with LTI, get the Titan and get the Stalker module (6 month insurance for module) or upgrade ($10 once live, keeps base LTI just don't apply it yet), you'll get a leg up in AC with a lighter frame and have the prison pods. The Warlock sounds awesome, sounds like a mean little trap ship.

Did you see the Reddit thread about Infinity Battlescape or whatever the hell it's called, with SC zealots pulling their KS pledges from the game just because Derek Smart backed it and the dev for it had like a 3 twit interaction with Derek Smart 5 months ago and didn't call him an asshole in it?

SC redditors = literally the worst gaming community on the planet.

Star Citizen Reddit community is by far the most cringe worthy bunch of people I've ever experienced.

Anyway, that abysmal anniversary stream and the absolute shit of the PTU 2.0 crushed any hope I had left for this project. Seriously, I hadn't expected much, just a little to keep my hopes going, but it's so little, so late and so crashy it's not even funny. I could've forgiven any two of those things, but what they've put out is just beyond belief. Embarrassing, actually.

If by some godly miracle SC ever amounts to anything, I'll rebuy it sometime in 2017-2019 when it possibly ships, but at this point I'm going to recover as much as I can from this glorious shitstorm.

I'm going to take a wild stab at this and say you didn't preorder the $200 MadCatz keyboard?

I may have been naive enough to believe Chris Roberts, but I'm not stupid enough to buy MadCatz :)

I did pay more than that for CH gear just for SC, so...maybe I'm not very bright either :D

^ That's what I was thinking while watching anniversary and PTU gameplay streams.

CCU's for the Titan and Warlock are back in for anyone wondering,

* Info for those that purchased the wrongly priced Titan or Warlock.

On RTV Ben said they would be giving store credit (or cash refund if you used money) to those that can't just melt it. (ie upgraded a package) Not sure what the wait time on support is though.

Pretty impressed with the ship AI they've implemented. The ships don't like having redditors inside them, so they vomit them across the room and out into space.

I have no doubt people will view this minimum of barely working content as the second coming of Christ, forgetting that this is all they've done in 18 (!!!) months since AC was released! 18 months for this minimal progress for barely a resemblance of the PU and practically zero SQ42 shown, the to be the best single player space game ever made that is due in 2016. Not to mention the fact that any aspect of this project can't be finished if people were to stop throwing money at it today. Backers are being held hostages by the dream of someday seeing this game and RSI sees nothing wrong in milking every last cent of it while lying about their management and finances, all the while pulling up a facade of faux open development.

I'm sorry but are you saying you expect them to release Squadron 42 in chunks before it's all finished?

They have shown videos of squadron 42, they have shown the actors coming in and itheir models and bits of storyline.

I do not think (or expect) them to give us squadron 42 before it's finished, kind of defeats the point of it being a story focused part of the game if people play bits and pieces of it that are unfinished.

Speaking of Vanduul Swarm, can new players qualify for the Aggressor badge still? I was asked the other day and I wasn't sure of the answer. Logically, it seems reasonable they would be able to, as (as far as I am aware) new users can qualify for the Cartographer, the 2 that come from the Vanguard game etc... or other badges that come from a mini-game or similar campaign. Is this accurate?

For a huge game that is supposed to come out in 2016, they've shown practically nothing. All we saw was a brief static ship walkthrough with rudimentary assets, animation and gameplay. What we have seen is the third or fourth iteration of the MOCAP and some picture here and there. Oh, and some Hollywood names flashing on the screen.

They have talked about making SQ42 episodic in several different formats and meanings so far, but I wasn't able to find out what they've settled on in the end. From everything they have shown, I believe there is no possible way to have it out in 2016 anywhere near complete.

Ah man vanduul swarm is hard as shit now, every wave is like old wave18 :)

Swarm is a lot more stable than trying to mess with the Crusader map, and it still lets you play with the new flight model and balance changes.

Very nice, can't wait for my invite.

Can't seem to get my pc to run properly with the baby PTU as my CPU seems to be getting bogged down. For some reason it's getting hammered and It's running at a constant 100% utilization (even at 800x600 lol) and it's causing micro stuttering and freezes. I gave up after a hour or so. This is definitely the buggiest PTU release I've seen which isn't really a surprise. I made it to my ship and managed to take off but that was as far as I could deal with the freezes.

I'll probably just hang back to see if any others report a work around before I bother with the current PTU build again.

Hangar runs perfectly fine. I may apply my CCU Warden to my Read Admirlal package tomorrow to see what the Vangaurd looks like in the hangar. The new Connie looks pretty sweet inside though. The first thing I clicked on was the escape pod and once I got inside I didn't know they changed the key to ctrl+f to exit the beds so I was like WTF I'm in my coffin and can't get out lol... Time to hit the sack I need some sleep.

*edit someone posted some user.cfg settings that seems to have fixed the major freezing issues for me. Have to get to bed though so i can't play lol. If anyone else is having the same issues the cfg settings are below. Create a file called user.cfg in the folder you installed the PTU into. Folder should be "Cloud Imperium Games\StarCitizen\Test"

r_vsync = 0
sys_MaxFps = 60
sys_spec = 3
r_AntialiasingMode = 1

So, CIG decided that instead of yet another delay they would rather release this CTD simulator? It is obviously not ready at all, not even as a pre-pre-pre-pre-pre-alpha release, but when you fail to deliver anything on time for years this kind of rushed out mess is what you have to resort to. You can always rely on the fan cult to see it as a huge success that is just another patch away from being the BDSSE. Or more than 5 minutes playable demo, whichever comes first.

A goon summed it best:
It's like if everyday you sent your not-very-bright little brother to the store with $1 to bring back some gum. Day after day, week after week, month after month, he comes back empty-handed. No money, no gum, no explanations; just a big dumb smile.

Then one day, it happens. He comes back home with a handful of Bazooka gum that looks like it's been sitting in the sun since 1997. It's not even pink anymore, there's no flavor to it, and it chips two of your teeth the instant you bite down on it.

But he did it. He finally did it. He brought home some gum and he's just beaming like he won a Nobel Prize.

The 2.0 Experience, everyone.

Ok so the Cutlass blue is out.

I am wondering, is it like the avenger in the sense that say, you could take just a regular Cutlass black and then upgrade it with modules/items to make it into a cutlass blue?

Is it unique in any way that you can't get it from normal playing? I know the Cutlass red says, "Unique red crossbones skin" but the blue says nothing about it being unique compared to the others, so I was jus twondering.

That'd save me $50 bucks lol. So if I can just upgrade to a cutlass black and then upgrade it in game to be like the blue that works for me.

I have a package with LTI on it, so if I do that the LTI will only cover the "Base" model (IE the cutlass black) and any upgrades I make to it aren't covered are they?

Blue has a larger shield max that other cutlass do not have, not sure if that has changed.

But it had a size 5 max shield other cutlass have size 4

Similar to how the Super hornet has a size 4 max power plant while other hornets have size 3, tho i feel in this case the blue has the better perk as a larger shield is likely better over all assuming it has the power to recharge it or sustain it.

You know what? Mass Effect: Andromeda is supposed to come out next year and what have they shown use....?

They are doing larger scale testing. Anything can happen and if they do get this stable enough soon, their plan worked.

Lorien you are going to have a fun time cleaning out all those upgrades, unless you just leave them there until the system wipes them all at the beta phase lol

Yeah I plan to keep em until beta when the system will just wipe them if I haven't used them. I'm still holding out on them at some point offering proper packages once again.

This is just planning for the future, if/when I decide to grab/upgrade a few more ships. I want to get the org hangar stocked with a good balance of ships that will actually be useful down the road.

Has anyone been able to pick up some of the discounted starter packages? They always appear to be "0 in stock" it seems, but I have to wonder if they are not being sold to existing accounts flagged with other packages equipped? I considered picking up a few of them for giveaways, sale to new players etc. Am I missing something or do they just sell out in minutes?

I picked up a Taurus to Cutlass Blue upgrade, just in case and will grab one of those Banu upgrades next.

Where did you get all those free upgrades Lorien? I saw that in the store the other day and now can't seem to find those anymore.

Was it a mistake and they removed it?
