First off let me say, it was a pleasure dealing with WD for support, although my 36 GB Raptor RMA took more than a month the service and support was GREAT, unlike *cough* fujitsu *cough*. I deal with RMA's at work daily but this one was special, my HDD crashed, but no biggie, i had everything backed up, as should everybody.

Long story short, i just got my HDD back today, they sent me a 74 GB raptor instead with WD stating an apology for the wait and seeing how the 36GB were not available they sent me a 74GB instead. No details if it was a refurb or not, and the same 5 year warranty is still applicable. Needless to say i have a smile on my face from ear to ear.

Anybody else ever RMA a 36GB Raptor with WD and gotten a 74GB in return? :D

If I had known this, my WD360GDs would have "failed" instead of being sold :D

Enjoy your much bigger and faster drive

Ok i dont know whats up with my particular raptor drive - the 74 G
I set it up as my OS programs HD.
Now I am using a MSI NEO4 platinum SLI board.
the drive is detected.
The OS is installed.
the only problem is that it is not booting off the HD.
I have set up my bios boot order to have the raptor 1st. and anything else 2nd.
Unfortunately the raptor is still not booting. and always gives me a DISK ERROR message
but the weird thing is that in the meantime i have placed another SATA drive and set it up with my OS. Now it works just fine and can see the 74G hd with out a prob. But the problem remains on why it isnt booting off the 74G.
So do I need to RMA this thing?
it also seems like the power / plug area seems to be loose. I would assume that may have something to do with it. I have never RMA'ed anything thru western digital
any recommendations before and after RMAing

any chance this drive will work as a boot drive
