I'm getting ready to build a new PC (you can see that thread in the general hardware section), and I have a couple of quesitons. The new PC is going to have a SATA HDD in it, but I'd still like to use the main drive of my current comp., as it's not totally out of date yet (80GB Seagate 7200 RPM). But it's an EIDE drive.

So here's my main question: Will there be any conflict between these two because they aren't using the same interface?

If not, which one would be the best to install the OS on, and which for storage?

And last, If I use both of them, should I set the HDD on the primary IDE connection and the optical drives on the secondary, or vice versa?

thanks, all.

use the sata as the primary drive since it is faster than ide. You would connect the other hard drive to the primary ide port and your cd-roms to the secondary port

there won't be any conflicts or problems unless you try to create a raid array with them (
