I have heard of getting something you can put a hard drive in and then connect to the computer by usb cord. I read somewhere that you can do this and then use some software (can't remember name) to clone the drive in your computer and then replace the inside drive with the one you just put information on. Can anyone tell me how to do this or where I could get one of the enclosures? I am hoping to do this with a notebook harddrive if that makes a difference with the external enclosure.

Something like this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817155704) will do it. Any 2.5" ide->usb enclosure, in other words. Ghost is probably the program you heard of, it'll work.

thanks for the reply :) ghost wasnt it.... work for the computing sites at my university and thats what we use to restore images... although if I could get it for free that would work. Does anyone know of another program that will do it? The guy who had posted it said that there was a free trial version of the program he used
