I haven't bought a hard drive for a while, so I just wanted to be sure that this is indeed a parallel ATA hard drive and it'll use the big gray ribbon cables.
Thanks

Also, is there a warranty with an OEM drive, or do they only come with the retail version? Office Max has the retail version on sale for only $30 more.

Did you read the specs on the page you linked to?
Interface IDE Ultra ATA100
It's PATA.
Manufacturer Warranty 3 Years
3 year warranty.
generaly , on that site, if it says ide its p-ata if it says sata ... then yeah.. sata. it kinda bites that they reuse the same generic pic for every HD, as that make its hard to tell what your getting... (4 of my seagates came with a mirror top the 5th is brushed... thus its hidden)
but.. at the same time.. bandwidth and space for every friggen HD out there... would get a little nuts...

Let me repeat it for you. I haven't bought a hard drive for a while, so I just wanted to be sure that this is indeed a parallel ATA hard drive and it'll use the big gray ribbon cables.
When I used to build computers, an SATA drive was a PATA drive. So it's just a tad confusing to someone who has since gotten a life and doesn't whore up this forum all day. Learn some consideration, or don't bother posting.

I dunno, they seem to take 8 pictures for every other product to show every cable and every angle. It might not be too much more effort for them to do the same with hard drives. :o
And thanks for not being condescending.

 SATA drives were never PATA drives. That just doesn't make sense. Honestly, I wasn't trying to be rude or inconsiderate. A bit blunt, perhaps, but certainly not inconsiderate.

i think you got it a littel mixed up there my friend... the sata your thinking of that looked like p-ata was infact scsi, it looked very similer in that fact that it used 50pin cables vs the 40pin the ata 33 drives required, with ata 66 throught 133 you need an 80pin cable that looks exactly the same as the 40 pin from the connector end, the newer scsi drive use 80 pin now as well.. but have a far different connector, you couldnt force it wiht any thing less than a sledge hammer
a littel reading incase i peaked your interest (http://www.scsita.org/aboutscsi/SCSI_Termination_Tutorial.html)

Answered in ANSWERS, in the HDD model numbers deciphered thread (http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=921544). Any WD drive with a "B" as the last character of the model number is a PATA drive.
Also, the warranty on OEM drives is covered in the Buyer's Guide. In there, you will see that WD Caviar OEM bare drives ship with a three year warranty.
I will also add my obligatory caution against buying drives from Newegg.

The item title says it all:
IDE Ultra ATA100

Once again, newegg helps you out:

Would you elaborate on that? Are you refering to Newegg's packaging (bubble-wrap) as being a potential static generator that could damage the drive? Or is there something else?

It is the packaging, but not for static reasons - they don't pack the drives in foam (as *all* the major manufacturers recommend). Zipzoomfly is the best choice for hard drives - they do use foam, and they're usually a few bucks cheaper to boot.
