Ok, last night I shared my music folder in my network, so I could pull the songs up else where in the house. Well after loading songs in Winamp on another computer over my network, nearly 80% of the songs in the folder i loaded are gone.

The folder is laggy on the computer its originally on, and windows is logging a bad block error. Every time I use chkdsk it locks up my computer. I even used some third party progarms and they lockup as well. I even tried some DATA revory progarms but they didn't find any thing. I don't know what to do, I'm pretty sure the file system got corrupted somehow. Do any of you know any powerful tools I can use to fix my HDD?

I've used R-Studio in the past to recover data from flaky drives. For me, it did a great job of recovering files I thought I had backed up prior to formatting (from FAT32 to NTFS) when I made the jump to WinXP. I've also used it to recover data trapped by a corrupted MFT. Depending on what else you need to get off of there and how much of a pain it would be to recreate the 80% of files, it could be worth the price ($80 for the non-networked editions). Fortunately, the demo version allows you to preview what it can recover so you can try it and see what it returns before making the investment.

Also, it is by far best to try any sort of recovery from a second PC, by physically moving the problematic HD to a second PC as a slave drive, to avoid any additional corruption/data loss from the normal operations of the OS.
