I did that one time at work because it took IT two weeks to replace my 92mm case fans.

I don't remember too well since I've replaced the chipset HSF with an Evercool VC-RE since then, which is a good option for DFI users that have their chipset fans go out on them. But I think the CPU never even broke 35 under gaming load, with a mild overclock of 2.2GHz. The chipset stayed in the low 40's. I don't know what it is about these DFI chipsets, but they sure do like to run hot. :( Anyways, I definitely wouldn't run it like that all the time, the dust build-up wasn't worth it, lol.

Would be intresting to see what would happen with that running DIRECTLY over the core of your procesor in a cooling loop :eek:

When its rainging outside I have to cut mine off for the day (it runs fine at these clocks with regular cooling lol).. Gets to where you can write your name in the condensation :/ Perhaps I shall try this oopen window thing. Havent gotten to write my name in frost on it yet.

I would love to see how you plan on keeping liquid CO2 in a cooling loop, the second it hits your core it would evaporate and cause your pipes to explode from the extra pressure created by the released gas :eek:

Heh, if you had something that was liquid at room temperature, and would flash evaporate at just a few degrees above room temperature you could experiment with making your own heat pipes :D

Why not just adjust the pressure inside the system? Pull a vamcum if you need it to boil lower. Possibly even have a regulated pressure system to dynamically change the boiling point. Its too early for me to muster enough brain power to try and figure out what the boiling of the fluid raising the pressure would do to the system though.

it was about 5 degrees F. outside so i ran a dryer tube from out side to the top of my hsf. there was a 80mm fan inside of the tub powered by the power supply thats sitting on the window sill to the right.

temp before mod: 30C
temp after mod: 19C

i only used it like that for about a day, and last i checked aluminum dosn't rust under normal circumstances (http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2000/may17/aluminum-517.html)(case, heat sink and north bridge cooler were all made out of aluminum at the time)

overall i was not concerned about rust, but the water vapor / snow was a bigger concern for me.

I had my window WIDE open today, during a snow storm here in Boston, MA. My ROOM temps didn't go below 70, and it's 80 degrees in here right now. Between my speakers, 19 inch CRT, and PC, my room almost never drops below 80 degrees, and gets wicked hot in the summer. Smothering the CPU with snow might work, but not for long.

I did that once on an old PC I was rebuilding as a server. Couldn't find any screws for the fan, so... Out came the super glue :D

My watercooling setup works, but is extremely ghetto. I haven't had any problems with spilling or leaks.

I'm using a DD Maze 2 on my S939 3000+
my waterpump is a 20$ lowes submersible
my rad is a bonaville heatercore with a fan zip tied to it
I cant get pictures of the rest as I dont wana take apart my pc.

I have a 120mm fan on the side of my case, so I stick it in the window,and WHAM! Its cold outside, not sure how cold, but I get ambient temps of 3C.

Before: 50C Load w/system below.
After: 35C Load

GPU: 32C Idle on stock cooling w/ that fan.
I get 39C Idle with stock cooling w/o being outside but its much better when things are chilly :D
Ill post a pic later. Its the pwn of ghetto cooling :D , 23C idle oc'ed cpu! And these pressys get hot! buahaha!! Im looking into doing something like that, but having water cooling, and just sticking the radiator outside. I will most likely get negative temps :D , woot woot!!!!

A good earthquake comes through, and your watercooling setup... well... let's not talk about it. I hope you don't have any cats, mine for sure would come right in and drink it all. Then I would yell "Bad kitty!" as my computer pleaded for help, running at like 213C at idle or something until I rushed in with more water from the tap.

Ultimate setup shot, yes, this was done with a Knex mod as well, and in the background, it shows that it took nearly 2 gallons of distilled water. The one tubing piece was really crappy & would kink without all the zip ties.

The scary thing is that I actually brought this setup, intact, to a LAN :eek:

i live in the uk and its quite cold. however in the summer (during my socket A days) i often used to remove the side panel from my pc and point my 12inch to the inside ;) oops 12inch being my fan.... (needed to edit to make sure we all know what im talking about :D )

Im thinking of taking a visit to the hardware store and getting some huge 12" fans, cutting a hole in the case, making some ghett0 water blocks, and last but not least....taking a gigantic metal container for water, drilling through and threading for some 1" OD Barbs (Big bore to t3h maxxxx :cool: ), and burying the container in the ground. Cold 24/7/365 with that :D . Then just use the fan for.....hmm...idk (Looks around for another system that needs cooling) hehe, idk... :D . WOO! Ill post up a worklog when I get this thing started. :cool:

And if all else fails, IM MOVIN TO CANADA!! WOOOO!! Either that or the north pole..
