I want to overclock JUST my CPU...no RAM or video card overclocking. I have an thlon 64 3000+ @ 1.8 and want it at 2.0. My multiplier is at 9 while my fsb is at 200 default. I know the slightest thing about overclocking except my board can do it for crap. I just want it at 2.0 and only the CPU. Anyone wanna help me out?

don't think u can O'C an amd 64 without doing the RAM also.

If you want to OC to 2.0...just do it...it's not that much of a jump.

its not that i wont do it...its that i need help on doing it. FSB or what? I would prefer not to overclock my RAM as well....I figured if I make my FSB from 200 to 223 then my RAM will be OCed and my CPU would be at 2.0GHz...

Theres an A64 overclocking guide(rather good one in fact) at the top of this forum, read that.

Change the divider to increase fsb and leave RAM alone

Change the divider to increase fsb and leave RAM alone

For more detail....sett htt to 223, and then set the ram freq. to 166mhz (5:6 divider)...which will make your ram speed 185mhz effectively.Don't wory about the ram being "underclocked" as you will never notice the difference.
I know you said you only "want 2.0ghz", but I've got a feeling you can do AT LEAST 2.2, probably 2.4ghz very easily......even with stock cooling and without increasing vcore more than 1 bin.

How do you set the RAM ratio?

Sometimes, when on a budget, you get memory that can't exactly overclock the best. In this event, you can set a divider so the memory runs slower than the FSB you set. You can tell the CPU you're running the FSB as 240MHz, but your memory only runs at 200MHz. In order to set a divider, go into your BIOS, and you can specify for memory's speed. The options should be:

100MHz
133MHz
166MHz
200MHz
Auto

You may not always see 100MHz, but at least the other 4 should be there. By default, it'll more than likely be on Auto. Now you may be thinking "Wait a minute, my memory is 400MHz!" Well these are the actual clocks of your memory, and since it's DDR (Double Data Rate) It's 2x the speed listed here, a.k.a. 200MHz. By default, it should be set at Auto. Don't worry about the 200MHz settings, auto does that by itself. You'll be using 100, 133, and 166 for dividers. The dividers give you the following results...

Couldn't find anything in my BIOS about that...

Bump

I found the CPU to memory ratio. I set it to 2:1.66. Then I set my CPU using easytune 4 to 223 FSB. Then my CPU was at 2007MHz and my ram at 185. About 20 seconds after it started freezing. So i restarted and it set back to the defaults of 1800MHz..... :(
