Just thought I'd let people know that the new Xbox 360 seems to be having some technical difficulties. Seems to be an overheating issue, I think.

I'm sorry but this is lmao funny. Thats what happens when you rush a console with THREE HOT RUNNING cpus to market in a small case. :D

Definitely. Especially when a dual core or even single core CPU would've sufficed.

You would think that MS would've payed people to play the games on the xbox 360 before launching it.and caught this issue. I hope it isn't so widespread lol.

Selling XBOX360's for insane prices doesn't sounds so smart now. When a buyer recieves there defective XBOX360, my guess is they are going to blame it on the guy who made the auction.

Im getting a vision .... paypal disputes a plenty ... coupled with frozen bank accounts.

That crash video is most definately an overheat (by the patterns on the screen) - they should've put 2 cores inside that thing at most.

I'm thinking, this is simply a guess and I'm not saying its the truth, but Microsoft may have been rushing the testing since they wanted to hit the holiday season. It has been confirmed at least one game started getting pressed before they officially approved it, since they wanted to make it to shelves in time. The same may have been the case for the console its self?

Silly nub... don't you know that 3 cores means its faster and better then a silly dual core pc!

ACTUALLY you "silly nub", the processing power behind the 3 cores in the X360 don't match that of a Dual core P4/X2. The CPUs are crippled in comparison, and they would've done MUCH better by putting a smaller, cooler dual-core CPU with more capabilities that matter to gaming (such that is AI, physics, branch prediction) - this would've made much more sense than a crippled 3-core setup. 3 cores are NOT better than 2 when the 3 aren't as good as they could be. It would make much more sense to read a little bit before you make a senseless derogatory post like that one.

Only if you have 6 threads to run on them. If not... well, a simplified core with no out-of-order execution is going to get royally hosed, unless you've got one hell of an optimizing compiler and very simple code.

Microsoft's going to wring a hell of a lot of performance out of this chip. Just not yet. But what do I care; the existing games kick so much ass that I'm glad I've got it now.

Yeah the fancy 3 core cpu thing is only double the performance of the original Xbox cpu. So it's like the equivlent of a 1.4ghz intel PIII/Celeron hybrid. Programmers have said they're only ever going to take advantage of 1 or possibly 2 of the cores because of how slow and limited the design is. (Using 1 cpu pumping out data is actually faster than going through 3 different cpus with the massive and slow pipelines) The gpu is also equivilant to about half of a 7800GTX (I believe) So $300 isn't too far gone from reality (Microsoft losing lots of money for each console sold.)

It's amazing what marketing and hype can do is all I'm going to say....
