My friend has an older computer, i don't know what kind of mobo (ino it has nForce2), it is running a AMD xp 2500+ w/ 512mb of some kind of ram (2700 i think). For $50 he got a ATI 9600 (step up from his nVidia 5200) and another 512mb of 2100 ram. He installed the video card and ram and the card works fine but the ram is not recognized, it still says he has 512mb of ram. Now I have two questions...

1. How do I get it to recognize the othr 512mb of ram

2. Is it even worth it to try and get it to recognize it?

Also the ram is value ram and I'm pretty sure they're not the same brand either.

it really depends.. try taking it out and reseating it to get it recongnized..

if it is 2100 and won't overclock at all, it might not be worth it to run it async from the fsb of this athlon.. socket A works best when the fsb of the cpu and the memory are at a 1:1 ratio...

what motherboard does he have? maybe he can overvolt his memory and get that 2100 running at least as 2700
