I think you know as much as anyone. I remember it was supposed to come out 10/18 and then I saw 10/28. It just went gold last week, though. :(

last i heard it was 11/7 for the US. Some of the Euros (UK and Germany) got their copies already, so its not like its delayed or anything.
I ordered mine a while back. It will show up when it shows up.

Preorders ship today, game will begin arriving in stores tomorrow. You can see this post (http://www.filerush.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4169) for details, but that's really all there is to it.
Edit: The above applies to North America only.

I was looking forward to this game but sadly they decided to use StarForce (http://www.glop.org/starforce/) copy protection on it so I'll be passing.

Yuck! I'm gonna wait to see what the feedback is on the patch they released. (the patch was released before the game was... wacky)

i tried it. the framerate is abyssmal. with a computer well above the recommended specs, i still only get less than 30fps and if it gets hairy, less than 10.
their tech support forum suggest i turn off the HUD, but how can i play a game without the HUD.
some are also reporting, and it was confirmed by their tech support that some game mechanics are not yet implemented, such as mining, although mining gear and such is avaialable. It seems they released a rushed unfinished game to meet their release date, maybe by xmas it will be put together better.
bottom line, this game is beautiful, and i wish i could play it but its not possible right now. gonna wait a couple patches.
p.s. starforce has caused no problems for me.

What's the specs on your machine and what res are you running at?
I KNEW this would happen with this game. What a surprise...

3ghz p4, 1gb ram, 9800pro 256mb.
tried running at 1280x1024 with all on, then backed all the settings to off, then reduced res to 1024x768 with all on, then with all off.
the best was 1024 with all on. turning off all the graphics options actually made the framerate worse. aa is not a big performance hit, but af is. also low shader effects helps.
i just ordered a 850xtpe and an amd64 3200. in a week or two when the whole thing is put together ill retry it and see what happens. however, according to their forums, even people with 7800gt and 2gb of ram are having same problems.

Harsh! That's what I've got... a 7800GT and 2gb RAM. :( I thought X2 was pretty decent so I was really looking forward to X3. Here's hoping they can fix the game by Christmas... :)

after more reading it seems there a couple of definite framrate killers. onboard sound, and ps 2.0 shaders. disabling sound improved my frames just now by about 20. some also reported similar gains when turning shaders to 1.3, but i dont know how to do that on mine yet... however, i am now getting 40s and 50s... time for more tweaks....

Mining is not implemented? WTF? Thats a core part of the economy. Its sad that companies release unfinished products, just to meet a deadline. Too bad I already ordered mine. Maybe I can cancel, and then order it when its actually done.

plus a lot of the "drops" when you kill an enemy ship are placeholders with nothing there.

well after spending time over at the egosoft forums, I decided to cancel my order of X3. Theres so much in X2 they simply took out.
Mobile mining (they didnot take out the equipment, or TELL anyone it doesn't work, they just left it out)
BBS missions - very few left, most of which are silly. No plans to add any in the next patch. TS's cannot dock with TL's anymore. So, you know have to use scores of little fighters to get fuel for your large transport ships.
SETA doesn't work in stations anymore. (I kinda understand this, but let the players decide if they want to use it or not)
Combine that with the myriad of bugs and performance issues, I cancelled my order. Maybe in 3-4 months after its been patched a few times (hopefully) ill reconsider it.
So sad, im such a big fan of X2 as well.
When are companies going to learn that slapping a new interface on a crippled older game is now way to get happy fans? When are they going to learn that releasing super buggy software is a bad idea? I guess never as long as we keep buying it. From this point forward, I will never pre-order a game. I will await reviews and demos.
Doom 3 cured me of hype.
Civ 4 cured me of the idea that its impossible to make a bad civ game.
X3 cured me of pre-ordering completely.
