New System Built, but Windows won't recognize my second SATA HDD

I just can't seem to get XP Pro to access my second drive. It shows up in the BIOS and in teh Device Manager but it won't let me write to it. I am a complete noob when it comes to this stuff, as this is my first system build.


Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well if it's showing up in device manager, it's probably just not formatted. Go to the manufacturers website (maxtor, seagate, wd, etc..) and download their installation utility. It will then walk you through the setup. If you're sure you did format it, try deleting it from the device manager and rebooting.
