I am trying to reformat my hard drive, but I'm having some problems.

I'm currently using Microsoft XP Professional SP 2 as my operating system. To re-format I boot from the CD, but when I try to format the hard drive I get the message "Setup Did Not Find Any Hard Disk Drives Installed in Your Computer." After this message it boots into xp from the hard drive I do have.

Any advice?

You are currently running XP SP2 and you want to reformat a different hard drive? Or are you trying to format the drive with your current XP SP2 install on it?

Is this a Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive? If so, your XP CD won't recognize it unless the CD itself has SP2 on it. If it is an older version of XP, you'll have to download the SATA drivers for your motherboard, put them on a floppy, and hit F6 when prompted during your install.

i think Nomar addressed this...dl the drivers for your controller(if you don't already have a driver disk), and put them on a floppy. make sure the file named TXTSETUP.OEM is located in the root dir. other drivers should be in dir appropriate to the OS (i.e NT/WIN98/Windows2000 etc and they will be listed for you to chose) but for this... TXTSETUP.OEM needs to be located -- A:\TXTSETUP.OEM or you will get a message stating the disk does not contain drivers...

thanks to some other members here i now have Slipstream WinXP SP2 and a Server 2003 SP1 with all my drivers and such via nLite...i hate having to have a FDD to install SATA and such only to remove it once the install is complete.
