So far I've gone through 4 floppy drives in EACH machine (3 of them). I heard someone around here say they used an external drive, and only plugged it in when they needed it. I like this idea as I'll only need one drive, however, would this drive work to flash my mother board drivers or to install any type of SATA drives, etc?

Will the USB be recognized without windows fully booting?

Thanks in advnace :)

At work we use USB floppy drives because alot of the newer business model PC's don't come with them. (Its about time) But they do have thier uses.

Anyways....You will need to check the Boot Sequence in your M/B's BIOS to see if it will allow you to select a USB device. I know the HP's and IBM's we have here at work have a specific entry for them while some will say USB Bus or something to that nature.

Older models will not allow the use of a USB device on boot.

I am not sure if ours do it becuase they are business models or what. But that would be the first place I would check. The BIOS

I'm assuming I can as my BIOS, under the boot sequence, shows:

USB-FDD
USB-ZIP
USB-CDROM

Finally I'll be able to upgrade my BIOS, heh.

Thanks for the help.
