Ok, I want to map a local c:\something folder to a W:\ Drive...
I know i can do that by sharing and mapping it,
Are there other ways to map? or assign a drive letter to a local folder Without using the network share feature???
Maybe using the registry or something in the My Computer uner HKEY_Local_Machine...microsoft...windows...current...explore r...mycomputer Some Value under some folder?????
Thanks in advance

There is a way to do something like creating a *nix symlink. But, I can't remember where I read about it. Do a search for "Windows Symlink"

IIRC there is a way to mount a folder as a drive. Let me check...
edit: give this (http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/2000/server/reskit/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/Windows/2000/server/reskit/en-us/prork/prdf_fls_ogex.asp) a spin, should do the trick. "volume mount points" is the term.

The last time I did that to make my DVD folder toplevel, it stayed put. Should stick around until you remove it.
