I don't know too much about power supplies, but as you can see here (http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=959977) my PSU may be the culprit for some pesky video artifacting.

I noticed that one of my 3 rails, the 12v, is running at 11.67. Just want to confirm if this is bad and if I need to buy a new PSU (planning on getting the OCZ powerstream 520w). The other two rails are only +/- .1 so that shouldn't be bad. Never buying a Thermaltake PSU again...

First go buy a digital multimeter for $10-30 to get an accurate reading. Second throw the ThermalTake out the window anyway. Of course I'm not a fan of OCZ either. Get your self a Seasonic S-12 series PSU and your computer, power bill, and your ears will thank you.

I looked and... gone! I'm not even going to be pissed about it, that's just my luck.

Think that's bad? Try this:
http://home.comcast.net/~wayne.richardson/2005-10-03-13h16-Volt12.gif

8 AMPS! on the 12V rail running a 2500+ Barton rig w/ HD, burner, multiple 120mm fans, etc. 235W Fortron PSU chuggin away... running waaaaay out of spec. Will tide me over until Thursday until I get new Antec Smart Power 2.0 500W....

Then I finally get to install the toys... DFI LanParty UT nF4-D and 3000+ Venice goin in the rig... woohoo.

This is a warning kids, don't be dumb and sell your Enermax 470W PSU expecting something to not be DOA - because it will be. (Murphy's Law and all that) And then you'll be like me, waiting day after day for Newegg to process your RMA for said dead PSU will break your heart.

I would not be OCing on a weak psu. You are aking for trouble. Grab the blue storm Forton for cheap.

If its reading that low, and its still stable, its probably an innacurate software reading. Check it with a multimeter, and if you notice instability, definitely replace the PSU.

its not that your reading is low.

its that the PSU is underpowering your system. a p4 and high end video card cant be run off a 12v rail with 18a, its just a really bad idea.

in that case im screwed ive been oc like a mo fo on my geniric psu. my 12v only gets 18 amps but asus probe has never dropped below 12.04 on that rail. speedfan on the other hand reports 11.36 on it so i dont know what is right.

if you feel comfortable wtih running your system like that, fine. in general, you shouldnt, and i wouldnt be surprised if your system blew up with you overloading the PSU like that.

The A7N8X is a 5v oriented board - it's not using the 12v to power the CPU. That 235w Fortron is probably doing an ok job, though it may be at it's limits on the 3.3v and 5v combined rails.
