This is my current hardware:
Motherboard: Albatron KX18D Pro II
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2GHz 400FSB
Memory: Kingston 1024MB (1GB) DDR400 (x2 512MB sticks)
Video Card: GeForce 6800 GT 256MB GDDR3
Sound Card: SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS
Hard Drive: Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM
Monitor: Optiquest 1024x768 RES
And my BF2 Performance has decreased. I used to have an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB and it worked better than now with latest drivers and this GeForce 6800 GT, is there any known issue? A way to improve, the performance, I did reformat and everything with no luck...
Help is appriciated.
Thanks & Regards.

Did you install all the motherboard/chipset drivers, etc.?

Well, I always install the drivers of the CD.

You probably want to download the updated drivers on their websites.

change your image quality/screen resolution at all?
cuz if you were playing 1024x768 on your 9800pro and are now playing at a higher resoluion and/or with higher quality images, you will take a hit in performance... which could cause it to feel slower than your 9800pro

use driver cleaner clean out all drivers from ati, and nvidia dowload 78.11's from guru3d.com

also, when you change vidcard brands, because windows is stoopid, you should prolly do a fresh install, for whatever reason, even using drivercleaner sometimes does not work

also, what is your power supply? the 6800gt pulls a bit more power than a 9700pro so that might be a prolbem too, and if reinstalling doesn't help, then i'd say that is your problem.

I just upgraded from a 9700 to a 6800GT and I noticed the same thing. I run at 1024 and all I changed were some of the quality settings from medium to high (they are now all at high). I noticed a big performance hit for the first few mins of play, then it smooths out.
Apparently BF2 is a huge ram hog...over at totalbf2.com people are saying that going from 1GB to 2GB of ram will fix the problem. Personally I'm going to wait for the 1.03 patch before buying anymore ram.

That patch has been already out for a long time and does not fix it.

Going from 1gb to 2gb eliminates the 'stuttering' effect many people experience. If you're getting general low FPS that wouldn't be the solution.

you should learn to read the date on the month old thread you resurrected....at the time the person posted that 1.03 was not yet released

You should learn to read the names of the people posting. :p It was HIS thread. He's saying that even w/ the patch, he still has problems (i believe).
