Can I resuscitate it?

This morning my computer greeted me with a chkdsk screen. Chkdsk gave up with a 'Corrupt Master File Table" message. Windows Explorer gives a 'This drive is not formatted' message. I tried running Active@ Uneraser, but it found too many errors on the disk to continue. The good thing is that the disk was not my boot disk, the bad thing is that it contained all my data, which was not backed up anywhere. :eek:

Is there any hope for my Western Digital WD1200?

If you have a linux live disk (any flavor, ubuntu, knoppix, etc) and your computer is hooked to a local area network i think its possible to save your stuff, the lan is needed because linux cant write over ntfs :(

That saved me several times, and the mft damaged disk was rescued with a zero fill utility, repartitioned and reformated :D
