Yes, I'm an idiot when it comes to DRM.
Is this possible?

No. I'm not even sure what you are referring to, but no. And we do have an operating systems-specific forum.

And we also have a CPU forum, which relates to DRM. What is your point.

CPUs really don't have anything to do with DRM, at least at this point in time with current processors. Anyway, the rules state that posts should go in the most relevant forum. This question was about an operating system(windows xp), and therefore should go in the operating systems forum. In any case, it is not a hardware question and should not go in general hardware. But that's besides the point.

No it cannot.
For Digital Rights Management to work it should have to be hardwired to the Motherboard chipset. (since the only legal link between an OS and a Computer is the mainboard.)
Mainly cause Motherboard manufacturers would have to go to extra expenses in installing the system and for that to happen Microsoft should have to convince them and lash out lots of cash. (for every motherboard manufacturer there is...)

I always tell my friends to prevent any kind of DRM by disabling anything and everything in options.. including the reporting of ANY kind of information, anonomous or otherwise. Deactivate Remote Acesss, deactivate sharing, deactivate updates checks... all of it. I dont even send reports or make logs in case of a program failure.. XPs default Firewall option is teh suck and gets deactivated toooooooooo
