I burnt a copy of the extracted files from the .exe compressed Ultimate Boot CD (basic) to a CD, but it won't boot even though the system is trying to boot from CD. I can boot off of my WinXP disc to get to the recovery console, but the UBCD won't boot from CD. Is there a special thing I have to do to set the disc to be bootable when burning? I burnt it as a basic data disc, which may be my problem...

It should come as an .iso file. If so then use nero or other burning software to burn that Image to the CD. It should say "Burn Image to Disc" in your burning software. Are any of those files that you extracted a .iso file?

You don't extract the files. You burn the compacted file to a disc as an ISO.

I went through this very thing about 4 months ago.

I was going crazy trying to get it to work and someone finally told me that the compressed file ( in my case it showed as a WinRar file ) was the actual ISO. So I burned that as an ISO and it works perfect.

Thanks... I couldn't figure it out for the life of me! I'll give it a shot :). The file is a .zip file, not a .iso, but as Tiny said, the .exe may very well be the ISO :).
