K. I need something, I'm bored with my stock heatsink, with the summer here, its VERY hard to get it past 2.7 ghz and have it stay on for more than 5 minutes.

Keep in mind I have about 80 dollars or so to spend on a heatsink, fan, raid card and longer ide cables.

I want to get it from Xoxide to save on shipping since I will get my ide cables there.. 36 inch costs the same as all the other sizes, plus the XP-90 is cheaper than there at Newegg..

The XP-120 won't fit on my mobo iirc so with that taken into consideration and the fact that i have about $80, maybe $90 if I stretch it for all of those things.... http://www.xoxide.com/amdcpucooler.html whats the best bang for my buck from there. I also want a powerful/loud fan too :p

I would probally just get the XP-90, but they don't have it in stock atm, so I was wondering if any others were just as good... Also, just how good is Artic Silver 5, whats so special/different about it than regular Artic Silver? Right now I just have some cheap crap from Radio Shack that cost like $2....

Thanks in advanced!

Edit - also the XP-90c is out of stock too... Kinda expensive too since I have more to buy, is there any place that has them cheaper?

Edit 2 - might get it from SVC since its cheaper..

Out of that list I would go with the xp-90 or the zalman 7700 since the xp-120 won't fit. Loud powerful fan, get a 92mm Vantec Tornado....that oughta make yer ears bleed :D

The best-value heatsink right now would be the Thermalright XP-90, hands down.

A Tornado though... :o

Heh, it has decent airflow and I like loud noises, just not from harddrives :p

I guess I'll get ordering pretty soon, I hope I can overclock more now

Only get the tornado if you have a fan controller that can throttle it down or you like teh sound of a hair dryer coming from your computer at all times.

For $12, I decided I'd get the tornado 92mm. But, in case it was too loud, I also got a Panaflo 92mm. I tried the tornado on my XP-90C. It was good. . . but its high-pitched whining (even at slower speeds) irritated me a bit. So I swapped it out for the Panaflo (48cfm 2450RPM 38db). Temps went up about 2 degrees. But it's worth it because it's nearly silent at full throttle.

Temps with 48cfm 2450RPM Panaflo on XP-90C w/ AS5. X2 4400+ @ stock speeds:
24c/76f room temp
30c "motherboard temp"
32c CPU Idle
43-44c CPU Dual-Prime95

yea xp-90 on the neo2 is great. random question: why do you need a raid card?

Any suggestions for a SocketA (AthlonXP 2500@3200)? The chip currently pushes 60c running Prime95.

Yeah, 56dba is insanely loud. That's about as loud as someone having a conversation, so basically everything you hear in that room (like games, music, movies, etc) will be drowned out. I had a 47dba fan (about 1/10th as loud as that tornado) and it was really loud. You could hear it from the other end of my house.

Thanks. I'll try and find one of those tomorrow (hopefully Central Comp in Newrk has). I need to do something about my older server while I'm at it. Its and older Palamino 1800 and its idle at 65c+.....

Set up some more harddrives... And I know the Tornado is loud, but I like it that way for some reason :p

Might just be personnal opinion here but if you board supports the XP-120, you should go with that as the fans you can stick on there are larger and therefore produce less of a high-pitched whining sound compared to an 80mm.This is especially true if you're going for a high-CFM, high-db fan. Just a thought. :)
