Problems starting Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude

I just bought Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude UNCUT version for my pc, installed it, and it won't start. When I double click the icon for it, and hit PLAY, the cd spins up, and then I get the Microsoft box that says "Larry.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close". I then send the error report to Microsoft.

I have read the faqs, I tried the Audigy safe mode, I have turned off hyperthreading, I have tried a totally clean boot (went into msconfig and turned off all startup processes), and it will still not start.

I have a more than adequate system. I have 1 gb of ram, lots of hard drive space, an Nvidia 6800 GT video card, an Abit IC7 motherboard, a Soundblaster Audigy 2 zs (yes, I read there are problems, but I tried all the fixes). I have the latest drivers for everything.

Please help, as I would really like to try this game, it was only $12 at +++++++ recently.

Just so you are aware of it. It´s a shitty game you will probably uninstall it after a few hours so if you don´t get it working it´s not a big loss.

Ok, I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it to a different hard drive, and still the same result. My system can play Doom 3, Half Life 2, etc, with no problems at all, and this stupid game won't even start. I emailed their tech support, but no answer yet. I was hoping someone here might have had a similar experience and could give me some advice....
