View Full Version : Case fan mounts for an Ultra - anyone know where to get them?

I have an Ultra brand full ATX case that comes with 4 of these 80mm case fan mounts. I'd love to get rid of them and mount my fans like any normal case would with screws, but there aren't holes for screws in the case. Instead there are square or rectangle holes that the fan mounts clip into. Considering that there's no way to get a fan in there without a mount, I need to know where to get extra ones. If anyone knows where they're sold or has an extra one for that matter, please let me know. I've googled it and found nothing.

Be a modder! Make your own holes.

Try looking in Antec's part store on their site, they have some.

Well I would, but i spent about 20 mins last night just looking at the precut holes they put in the case for the mounts, and I just can't figure out how to do it. There's already holes where the new round holes would have to go, so the only way to do it would be to cut the whole front of the case out and make a new plate out of sheet metal to replace it. I'll do it if I must, but I was hoping i wouldn't have to.
Thanks for the linkage! exactly what I needed!
Has anyone successfully mounted 120mm fans in one of these cases? I've got 4 80mm case fans in it now and it's a little loud. They're generic LED fans that run at 25Db all them time and it's getting on my nerves. I'd like to put some 120mm intake and exhaust fans in it if it's possible.

you have to fabricate a new front and back piece. i did the same thing with my old chieftec dragon (same case).
i'd post some pics, but im at work and dont have access to them.
Use a washer that is bigger than the square hole with a long screw. Go all the way through the holes, through the fan, and secure with double nuts and possibly a rubber bushing or threadlock on the other side.

All right, as soon as I can find some sheet metal i'll put some 120mm's in and post pics of progress. If it's been done before, i can do it. It's all part of being [H]ard, right?

and if that does not work, with enough epoxy, anything is possible. ;) j/k

I've been thinking about this, and now i'm starting to wonder. WIth the 4 80mm fans in my case now all running at full speed, plus the 3 fans in my PSU running at about half speed and the stock CPU and video cooler, it makes a little too much noise for my comfort. I extimate it's making about 35-38 Db all the time. I'm going to be getting a Zalman 7700 all copper CPU cooler and either a AC Silencer 1 rev.2 or a Zalman 700 video cooler in the near future, and have a fan controller on the way. I'm going for a quiet(er) setup than I have now with some OCability. Do I have to set up my front panel with 2 120mm's and do some modding on the back for some 120mm's too or am I going to have enough airflow with the 4 80mm's (32cfm at max speed) turned down about halfway? I'm thinking that the answer is sorta going to depend on if I get the Silencer or the 700. Any advice\experience is apprecciated.

2 120s (1 back and 1 front) should be sufficient.

But are 4-5 80mm's at 50% or so power enough?

Just McGuyver it... there's nothing a roll of duct tape and a chewing gum wrapper won't fix!
