I can't get it to boot from a CD! HELP!

I am trying to get this computer to boot from a Windows XP CD so I can format and reinstall XP on it. The computer is completely trashed with viruses and spyware. I did set the DVD-ROM to the first boot device. When I start up the computer, there is no point in which I am choose to boot from a CD if I want to. The screen where it normally asks, the one that lists the devices and such, flies by and I don't see any options. I relaly want to format this computer!

I got it. For some weird reason, my DVD-ROM was acting up. I changed the IDE drive frrom the DVD-ROM to the CD-RW and that worked fine. Hopefully this DVD_ROM still works fine when I get Windows all set-up again :)
