Ok so our receptionist computer somehow got Winfixer on it. Every time she logs in it trys to start downloading something... also now IE shuts down everytime you try to go somewhere such as weather.com and even these forums. It is not availible as an unistall option in add/remove... if anyone could shed some light on how to get rid of this program that would much appriciated... thanx

Wow, that program sounds like a winner.

The Problem
There are plenty of pernicious and useless files that are stored in your drive without your knowledge. Those corrupted files slow down your disk capacity and your whole system performance. Are you aware of the valuable disk space you can recover using this program?

Pernicious eh? LOL If they can't confuse people with techno-babble, they figure they'll throw in some fancy words out of the thesaurus lol.

per·ni·cious
adj.

1. Tending to cause death or serious injury; deadly: a pernicious virus.
- Causing great harm; destructive: pernicious rumors.
2. Archaic. Evil; wicked.

LOL

Anyway, all laughing aside, try the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility

Use MsConfig and/or StartUp CPL to disable it if possible. That should give you a temp solution, same as renaming the process.
