I finally recieved my RMA'd RAM from FedEx today, and my new build is finally (after waiting several weeks to wait for parts, etc) ready to get up and running with XP. Only problem is, there's a string of thunderstorms moving through my area (northern Ohio, severe T-storm watch until 11 pm) and I believe they're supposed to be here for a while, atleast until mid evening. Now, I have a quality surge protector so I don't have to worry about frying anything, but I don't have a battery backup, and I was wondering if I'd be taking a risk if I started installing XP with the chance of the power going out. Would this cause serious problems if I lost power in the middle of a clean installation? I'd really like to get it going ASAP because I've been growing impatient over the past couple of weeks, but do you think I should wait it out? Thanks in advance.

XP setup does rollback if there is a loss of power, however, it is always a risk that the rollback code won't work, or you hit it exactly at a point where there is no rollback. I would just wait.

I do have tomorrow off of work, so I suppose I could just stay up until 3 messing with it, but I just have this little kid like impatiency (is that a word?) to get it going. Damn weather  .

Go out and take 200 bucks with you, buy a UPS. Best investment you could ever make!

I can't count how many time that extra 30 mins has saved my computer!
