We have a bunch of 3" cables made by Molex in our lab at work. I'll see if I can figure out where we got them from.

Also FrozenCPU hits pretty hard on shipping, even for small stuff like this :(

Quick Froogle search for 6" sata showed a couple hits.

www.adpmods.com seems to have reasonable prices and decent reseller-ratings.

Hrrm.. $3.95/cable from adpmods.com but its Canadian money. Even better if shipping to the lower 48 is reasonable.

I checked to see where we got our 3" cables and apparently they came with our SAS/SATA protocol analyzers. So, unfortunately I can't tell you where to buy them unless you want a $50,000 analyzer to go with it...

Nah. My HDD is within 6" of my SATA connector, and I have a huge case (old Antec SX1000). It'd be a stretch for me, but in a smaller case, there'd be no problem using a 6" cable.

And you can't fold SATA cables inside a machine, or you'll have data corruption.

Not on any of m machines, including my big-assed database server.

'cause the data crashes into the folds in the cables causing wrecks? :p
