I ordered a Maxtor 6L200R0 200 gb drive off NewEgg because it explicitly stated it was a 16 mb cache drive. Now I look it up and notice that there's a 200 gb drive with 8 mb also. I just got this drive. How do I know if I have a 8mb or 16mb cache version? I checked some reviews and it stated only the 250 and 300 came with 16, but then I did some searching on various online stores and saw many of them offering this drive claiming 16 mb cache.
Thanks

from that part number it can go either way, any other numbers on the drive?
if you got it from newegg, its gonna be 16mb
EDIT: on maxtors data sheet it says a "P" in the part number denotes 8mb and an "R" 16mb, so if thats the part number its 16mb for sure

The answer was in ANSWERS. From the HDD model number thread:- R = 16MB PATASo yes, you do indeed have a 16MB drive.
