Ok, here's the deal. I have two desktop pc's and one laptop. My laptop has integrated 802.11b/g. My main concern was to share my broadband internet connection between the three pc's. So I went and bought a linksys wireless broadband router and installed it on my main desktop pc. I then also bought a wireless PCI nic and installed it in the secondary pc. For a while everything seemed to work great as all 3 pc's had internet connection. Then all of the sudden one day the secondary pc couldn't see the internet. I've looked at and changed (and then changed back) a lot of various options all to no avail. The laptop still has an internet connection but not the secondary pc. Here's the specs of my various pc's...
Main desktop...
Currently it's an AMD 2800+
MSI K7N2 Neo2 mobo
512MB Generic PC2700 RAM
2 80gig HD's
Geforce 5700
Audigy 2 ZS
Windows XP Home upgraded to SP2
Secondary desktop
AMD Duron 800mhz
256MB Generic RAM
40gig HD
SoundBlaster Live 5.1
Windows XP Pro XP1
Laptop
AMD 64 3200+
512MB RAM
80gig HD
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M
Windows XP Home SP2
I'm currently in the process of building a new PC that will be my main desktop that will have the current main's hard drives while the secondary desktop hard drive will be switched to the current main system.
Anyone have any ideas on what I should be looking at, either on the secondary pc or on the main pc, to try to get the secondary pc to have internet access?
Also, does anyone know if I should be able to share files between these systems like a regular network? I've had two different people tell me two different answers on this one. One said that even though it's a broadband wireless router I should be able to connect to each pc and share files just like a regular network but the other said that all I'll get out of this setup is to share the internet connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Paithar
