I was looking to buy a drive enclosure here pretty soon. But I want to be able to buy an enclose that will take my hard drive with information already on it. I don't want to have to format the drive. Just want to take the drive our of my computer and put it in the enclosure and it just work with the information already on it. The drive the at I'll sticking in the enclosure is formatted in the NTFS (Win XP & 2000) format and I will be using the drive with Windows XP machines and Mac OSX Tiger machines.
Anyone have any suggestions for finding an enclosure that will do what I want?

Any enclosure will do that; what you're more likely to run into problems with is trying to get ntfs working on osx. I'd be surprised, to say the least, if it works read/write out-of-box.

Ive got an enclosure up for sale. Its a real nice one. It even has a very quiet fan to keep the drive cool. 25 bucks shipped in the US

Just purchases a used drive enclosure and my Windows Xp system can't recognize the drive. When I have the jumper on Cable Select or just take the jumper off, it then recognized the USB device. But I don't see a letter drive. Then when I go to Computer Management under Disk Management there is a Dynamic Foreign drive there but I can't assign it a letter drive. It asks if I want to convert it to a Basic drive, but I really don't want to do that because it wants me to ease the drive and I don't want to do that because I want to access the stuff on it.
