Okay, I found a dell coupon deal. I can save 1.2k on a dell XPS Gen 5. If i were to get that would I be able to take out the Radeon X850XT PE and sell it on the [H]ard Forums buy/trade thread for say 250-300. I was wondering if that's a acceptable price, and if i could sell that. I'd also sell the pentium 4 3.2 for 100 or less. I'd trash the mobo, if it was possible to put a dfi in there.

Mobo replacement sounds like a bad idea, the XPS 5 comes with proprietary connectors between the PSU and the mobo, so you'd have to replace the PSU (also proprietary) or the connectors as well. Also the CPU cooling consists of a heatpipe/heat exchanger with and air duct leading to 2x 80 mm fans mounted on the back of the cabinet, you'd probably have to rebuild/relocate the duct if you replace the mobo.
Don't know what you'll get for an OEM X850XT-PE, but keep in mind the Dell versions are not dual-DVI.
If you basically don't want any of the components in the XPS, why don't you just build a comp from scratch with the parts you want? Guess it would be both cheaper and less time-consuming.

At least I thought it was proprietary, but maybe I'm wrong. See the pic of the XPS4 interior below (not mine), I guess XPS5 is similar. The PSU/mobo connector is on the top right of the mobo. In addition to a series of connectors going to the drives, this seems to be the only power outlet. You cannot easily access any outlets on the PSU itself. Had to use a molex adapter from one of the drives when I installed my EMU 1820.

Ive never seen the inside of an XPS. It must make this very easy to assemble but it looks like you would be hard pressed to upgrade or change anything???? My advice, dont buy the Dell. Get a Velocity or Alienware. They use retail stuff. Better yet build it if you can.

when you start stacking some of those coupons and getting x% off it makes it really hard to pass up some of the computers... thats why i've got a dell and didn't build mine.. would have costed quite a bit more if i'd built it myself...

That should be a very good price depending on who actually makes it. I have a Sapphire with DVI/AVG so thats not really a problem. I could see it go for as much as $350, you should open it to the forum at that price or lower. (but if someone PM's you saying they saw this thread and wants it for $300 I think that should be what you sell it to them at).
