View Full Version : Should I be happy with my latest CPU speeds or am I being CPU power greedy?

okay, so I just went from having a 3GHz 630 chip with an Abit Fatal1ty board to a 3.4GHz 650 chip with an Asus P5WD2 board. now, my previous setup ran flawlessly at 4.1GHz with never skipping a beat so I was hoping that I could get the same yield results with my newest setup and hopefully get something like 4.3GHz or so. but I guess it just wasnt meant to be because it seems like I'm only able to get like 4.25GHz out of my newest setup. now I know that an 800MHz+ overclock isnt nothing to be ashamed of but I guess (just like many of us) I just want more.

-so what do you guys think? should I be happy with what I have or do you think I'm being a whiney little b*tch by complaining that I couldnt get a 1GHz overclock from this setup like I did with my 630 chip?

At those speeds it will be a puddle on the bottom of your case in week.

Bit if u can cool that beast then thats 1 hell of an overlock. Nice job

^ lol - 57C isnt nothing compared to my first Prescott core which was a 3.0E socket 478 which would easily peg the mid 70s with Prime 95.

now that was [H]ot!

My 3.4E (which is an older D0) only does 4 GHz, and that's with a good watercooling system. I think you should be very happy. :D

if i go 10% more to 3.3 it crashees cuz of temp spikes :(
its prolly cuz of my lanboy case :p so many cables with only 2 80mm fans
