before on an antec 380w trupower, 512 xms corsair, stock hsf, and running 2-2-2-1T, i could oc my 3200+ to about 2.6ghz. well i just added another 512 stick of corsair xms (however, this one had 3-3-3-8 1T timings), an xclio 450w, xp-90 w/ panaflo, and all this is in a better case with better cooling. now i try to use corecenter to autooverclock from stock settings and it stops around 206mhz, so i change my timings to 2.5-3-3-7 1T and up my voltages, it it stops around 208mhz. what the hell happened? is my new stick of ram slowing things up? my temps have dropped so overheating is not a problem. help!!!!!! i had goals of 2.6-2.7ghz with this.

if that new ram stick runs 3 3 3 8 at 200MHz, it certainly wont run 2.5 3 3 7 at 208MHz... Try pulling that stick out and see if any of your other system changes affected your OC. If not, then it's definitely the new ram stick.

secondly, if you didn't already, lower your HTT multiplier to 4x

my htt was at 4x. hmmm....guess i'll sell my ram to my friend. any suggestions for new ram that will fit my overclocking need? and as always the cheaper the better.

would the location of the sticks of ram matter? if i switched the sticks around would i have a better chance at oc'ing with this ram? also i just installed and xp-90 with a 92mm panaflo. currently i have the fan connected to the cpu fan connector on my mobo. is there any difference if i connect it directly to the psu or does it not matter? (sorry guys, i'm at work so i can't really get in there till tonight)

Unmatched RAM is never a good idea even in a non-over clocking situation. Believe it or not good old basic Corsair Value ram, the 1 gig pack at a divider 5/6 or 166 will hit 250 on most motherboard with no problem. Figure about 2.8 or so volts.

Do some shopping; this product usually shows up for about $80 a gig about once a week somewhere.

When ever i overclock higher then 3.1 ghz when booting up windows gives me an error. Cannot find some boot files and asks me to repair, insert the windows xp disk and press the r key to repair. Any suggestions ? I got it running at 3.4 ghz but i had to reset my powersupply. I most likely need a more powerfull one. But it will do for now. I poped in the disk and it ran but came up with the "blue screen of death" i shut down reset my power supply and shibam it runs awesome at 3.4 ghz.

2.4ghz Intel P4 @ 3.4 ghz
1gb of Corsair ddr 400 matched pair
865 Pe Msi Neo 2 PFS Platnum Edition
Msi Nvidia Geforce 5700 Le 256 Mb
300 Watt Generic power supply

well i'll be on the lookout for that. i also heard that a certain model of 1GB twinmos ram was also decent for oc'ing, anybody know what i am talking about? i just need good enough ram to get me to about 2.6-2.7ghz, which is possible because i was able to hit it while back, but lack of cooling and an older model antec truepower cause some unstability.

youve got a SATA hard drive do you not? if so, switch it to a different block of ports, if its on 1/2 move to 3/4 etc
